JOPLIN, Mo. -- Pat Reagan and
Jeff Weiss each claimed All-America honors Saturday to lead The Rock men to a No. 9 team finish in the NCAA Division II national championship competition.
Reagan finished 12th in the individual competition with a time of 30:37 on the 10,000-meter course, while Weiss placed 37th with a time of 31:36.
The top 30 American runners received All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA); the NCAA does not select an All-America team.
The All-America honor was the third earned by Weiss in as many collegiate campaigns. He placed third in the national championship race as a freshman in 2005 and finished 15th a year ago.
Matt Bluman was SRU's third finisher Saturday with a 49th-place time of 31:55 and finished four spots shy of All-America status.
Chris Geddis finished 92nd with a time of 32:48, while
George Walton was 135th with a time of 33:51 and
Mark Morelli finished 161st with a time of 34:37.
A total of 187 individuals and 24 teams competed in the men's national championship race.
Jaime Wright, The Rock's lone representative in the women's competition, finished 84th with a time of 22:37 on the 6,000m course. A total of 189 runners competed in the women's race.
The No. 9 national finish was one spot lower than SRU's pre-race ranking of eighth in the final USTFCCCA national poll.
