Rock season ends with 3-0 loss to Edinboro in regional opener

The Rock lost its opening-round match in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament by 30-28, 30-27 and 30-22 scores

CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Rock's 2007 season came to an end Thursday afternoon as the sixth-seeded Green and White dropped a 3-0 decision to third-seeded Edinboro in opening-round action of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament at California U. of Pa.

Edinboro, a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival of SRU, won the match by game scores of 30-28, 30-27 and 30-22 to advance to Friday's semifinal round, in which it will meet either second-seeded Clarion or seventh-seeded Lees-McRae.

The Rock concludes its season with a 22-15 overall record.

All-PSAC-West second-team selections Jen Blasko and Anastasia Urbanik led The Rock attack Thursday with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Louise Schultz had 19 assists and tied with Urbanik for the team lead in service aces with three.

Andrea Campbell had a team-high 14 digs, while Blasko added 12 and Courtney Fajerski had 10.

Campbell and Schultz both played in their final collegiate match Thursday.

The Rock appeared in NCAA regional competition for the third successive season, the longest streak in school history.
