LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University distance runners Easton Adamczyk and Carissa Flynn swept the Cross Country Athlete of the Week awards when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first weekly awards of the season Tuesday.
 
Adamczyk and Flynn were recognized for their winning efforts at last week's Doug Watts Open hosted by Edinboro, which served as the season opener for SRU.
 
Adamczyk, a junior from Franklin, Pennsylvania, won the men's 6,000-meter race in 19:50 to pick up the first collegiate cross country win of his career. His victory led The Rock men to the team title at the event as well.
 
Flynn, a junior from Lenox Township, Pennsylvania, also won the first collegiate cross country race of her career after covering the 5,000-meter course in 18:40. She topped the next fastest runner in the meet by 21 seconds. Her win helped SRU to place second in the team standings at the event.
 
Slippery Rock is set to return to action this Friday morning at the RMU Colonial Invitational at the Youthtowne Fields in Clinton, Pennsylvania.
