SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock is a perfect 2-0 against the Redhawks with home wins over Roberts Wesleyan in 2023 and 2025. In addition to being undefeated versus RWU, The Rock has yet to allow a goal in the series as their two wins came via 9-0 (2023) and 3-0 (2025) shutouts.
 
Grace Williams scored two goals in last year's victory over the Redhawks, with Maddie Orrson adding the other goal while Coral Piramo and Roz Mikualk assisted on two of the three scores. Paige Shannon produced an assist during SRU's nine-goal victory in 2023.

Much like its series history with Roberts Wesleyan, Slippery Rock is a perfect 2-0 all-time against Maryville via victories in 2022 (4-1) and 2023 (3-2 / 2 OT). Hilary Hoffman, Haylie Sucharski, Lucy Hutchinson and Paige Shannon all played in the 2023 game with Hoffman assisting on the game-tying goal that forced overtime.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock maintained its perfect start to 2026 thanks to a 2-1 victory Sept. 18 over Converse University at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Lucy Hutchinson and Grace Williams both scored goals, while Sam Black made three saves.
 
BEST START IN NEARLY 50 YEARS
Slippery Rock is 4-0 to start a season for the first time since the 1978 team earned wins over Northern Michigan, IUP, Brockport and Pittsburgh to start its season before losing to Penn State. A victory over Roberts Wesleyan would give the program its first 5-0 beginning to a year since 1976.
 
THE ROCK IN THE RANKINGS
• While this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association Top 10 poll won't be released until Tuesday, it is a near certainty that The Rock will at the very least maintain their No. 9 ranking from last week.
 
• Finalwhistlefh.com ranks Slippery Rock sixth in Rating Percentage Index (RPI) (HERE).
 
• Slippery Rock is also fifth in the Atlantic Region's NCAA Power Index as presented by Inkblot Sports (HERE).
 
• Across all of Division II, Slippery Rock is one of just six teams that are still undefeated alongside its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference counterparts Bloomsburg (6-0), East Stroudsburg (6-0), IUP (4-0), Kutztown (7-0) and West Chester (4-0).
 
THE ROCK IN BRIEF
• Through four games, Slippery Rock is averaging 3.75 goals per game on 18.8 shots per game. Defensively, SRU has allowed just 1.00 goals per game and scant 6.5 attempts per contest.
 
• In terms of penalty corners, Slippery Rock earns 8.5 per game while yielding a mere 3.3.
 
• Slippery Rock's 15 goals through four games are the most to start a year inside the program since 2018 while its four goals allowed is the fewest opponent goals through the first four games of a season since 2018 as well.
 
COMING OUT QUICK
The first half of games this season have belonged to The Rock. SRU heads to Roberts Wesleyan having outscored its opponents 11-1 in the first two quarters of games. SRU is yet to trail in a game this year.
 
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
Dating back to the 2010 season, Slippery Rock holds a commanding 49-27 (.645) record in non-PSAC games. SRU went 4-4 in non-conference play last year and is 4-0 in 2026.
 
LEAVING HOME
Slippery Rock's upcoming five-game road trip is tied for the second longest in program history behind only the 1981 season when SRU played six straight road / neutral site games.
 
HUTCHINSON TOPS D2 IN GOALS, POINTS
Slippery Rock senior forward Lucy Hutchinson begins the week ranked first in all of Division II in both goals per game (1.50) and points per game (3.50).
 
THE ROCK ATTACK
• Hutchinson has scored at least one goal in every game this year for what is her second career four-game goal streak. She has tallied 14 total points via six goals and two assists while placing 15 of her 21 total shots on target (.714).
 
• Behind Hutchinson on SRU's points ledger is Coral Piramo (8) and Grace Williams (7). The duo both have three goals, with Piramo assisting on two other goals and Williams adding an assist of her own.
 
• Piramo has logged at least one point in all four games in 2026.
 
• Hilary Hoffman is SRU's other multi-goal scorer with two.
 
• Freshman Keila Schutte-Hanekom has one goal and one assist in her first three collegiate games to round out SRU's current goal scorers.
 
• The trio of Roz Mikulak, Josie Shultz and Paige Shannon have all produced one assist.
 
DEFENSIVE STOPPERS
• Starting goalkeeper Sam Black is off to a dominant start to her Slippery Rock career. The fifth-year transfer from Wagner carries a 0.56 Goals Against Average and .818 save percentage into the Roberts Wesleyan game.
 
• Black is seventh in the nation in GAA and 11th in save percentage. She has made seven saves over the last two games.
 
• Haylie Sucharski's two defensive saves are a team-high and tied for fifth in the country.
 
• Slippery Rock's defense is yet to allow a goal off a penalty corner this season.

ROCK SELECTS CAPTAINS FOR 2026
Seniors Lucy Hutchinson and Paige Shannon were selected as team captains for the 2026, the SRU coaching staff recently announced.
 
MALISHCHAK + EBERHART TO ROCK HALL OF FAME
Two former members of the Slippery Rock field hockey program were named to the SRU Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2026.
 
Vicki (Peterson) Eberhart and Gabrielle Malishchak will join five other former Slippery Rock greats as the latest members to join the SRU Athletics Hall of Fame when the 2026 class is enshrined Oct. 9.
 
In addition to being a two-time All-PSAC honoree in field hockey who still owns the single-season record for points per game, Eberhart was one of a rare group of athletes at Slippery Rock that not just participated in multiple sports, but excelled and earned numerous honors in multiple sports. She won two PSAC titles in the high jump and one PSAC title in the pole vault, was an All-American in the high jump.
 
Malishchak is the only four-time All-PSAC honoree in SRU field hockey history and the only first team All-American in program history. She still ranks fifth all-time at SRU in assists, played on an SRU team that reached as high as a No. 8 national ranking.
