Slippery Rock opened the 2026 campaign with a 0-0 draw at against D'Youville University Aug. 27 at Dobson Field.
The Rock's draw against the Saints marks the fourth consecutive season that SRU has started the season with a win or a draw (2-0-2). Slippery Rock's last tie in a season opener came in 2023, when SRU drew the University of the District of Columbia, 2-2.
Pandher led all players with four shots and two on goal, while Reynolds and
Patrick Tierney each had two shots. Reynolds,

Troy Nine tended the goal for The Rock and made three saves for SRU.
NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
Following the draw with D'Youville, Slippery Rock is now 17-22-14 in non-conference matchups over the last eight years. SRU is looking to earn a non-conference victory for the 19
th straight season.
PLAYING UNDER THE LIGHTS
The Rock play their first of four games this season that will have a start time of 6 p.m. or later. Slippery Rock is looking for its first win under the lights since Sept. 21, 2022, at California (Pa.), 1-0.
LEAVING PENNSYLVANIA
Slippery Rock will be playing its second consecutive non-conference game outside of the state of Pennsylvania. The Rock are looking for its first victory outside of the Commonwealth since their season opener in 2024, a 1-0 win at D'Youville in Buffalo, New York.

Nine's three-save performance against the Saints matched a career high for the Lansdale, Pennsylvania native. Nine also made three stops in a 3-2 loss last season at the University of the District of Columbia.
ROCK DEBUTS
Six players made their Rock debuts in the match against the Saints, while four players made their collegiate debut overall. Transfers

Tom Roantree made appearances off the bench in their first game at The Rock, respectively.
Freshmen Merrill and Uebele made starts in their first collegiate contest, while Zwartele and
Javier Garrido Burgos appeared off the bench.
A COACHING CONNECTION
Slippery Rock will be facing Walsh head coach Andy Hoggarth, who held the same position at SRU from 2014-15. While at Slippery Rock, Hoggarth amassed a 25-13 record and a PSAC Tournament Championship in 2015 with a 2-1 win over No. 21 Millersville University.
On top of being a former coach at SRU, Hoggarth took over at Division III Thiel College when
Kevin Wilhelm departed the Tomcats following the 2006 season.

WALSH SCOUTING REPORT
The Cavaliers come into the contest with a 0-1-0 record after falling in their season opener, Aug. 30 at Wheeling University, 3-1. Walsh had their original season opener postponed Aug. 27 at Pitt-Johnstown.
After one game, Walsh's Aleksander Miketic leads the Cavalier with one goal. Forward Stefan Velickovic was the only field player for Walsh to play the full 90 minutes against Wheeling, along with Walsh goalkeeper Nick Bertolini. Bertolini made eight saves in the loss to the Cardinals.
LOOKING AHEAD
Slippery Rock heads home for its first home game of the season in a non-conference affair 4 p.m. Saturday against the District of Columbia at James Egli Field. Last season, SRU and UDC played in Washington, D.C. in a match that saw the Firebirds come out victorious, 3-2.
