BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team opened the 2026 campaign with a 0-0 draw at against D'Youville University Thursday at Dobson Field.
Slippery Rock and D'Youville each exit opening day with a 0-0-1 record.
The Rock's draw against the Saints marks the fourth consecutive season that SRU has started the season with a win or a draw (2-0-2). Slippery Rock's last tie in a season opener came in 2023, when SRU drew the University of the District of Columbia, 2-2.
Slippery Rock ended the contest outshooting D'Youville 16-3, including 6-3 in shots on goal. The Rock also topped the Saints in corner kicks, 5-4.
Aashi Pandher led all players with four shots and two shots on goal, while
Patrick Tierney and
Kaden Reynolds each had two shots. Reynolds,
Boele Zwartele,
Christopher Merrill and
Gabin Lonjard all landed one shot on goal.
Troy Nine tended the goal for The Rock and made three saves, tying a career high for the Landsdale, Pennsylvania native.
The match saw Merrill, Zwartele,
Fynn Uebele and
Javier Garrido Burgos all made their collegiate debuts, while
Caleb Alldredge and
Tom Roantree made their Slippery Rock debuts.
Matthew Solorio started in goal for D'Youville, stopping all six shots that landed on net.
Slippery Rock will return to action 6 p.m. Sept. 2 against Walsh University at Larry Staudt Field.
