Rock suffers setback at Walsh, 1-0

The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team fell in a non-conference matchup against Walsh, 1-0, Wednesday night at Larry Staudt Field.

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team fell in a non-conference matchup against Walsh University, 1-0, Wednesday night at Larry Staudt Field.

With the loss, Slippery Rock fell to 0-1-1 overall, while Walsh improved to 1-1-0 on the season.

The Rock outshot the Cavaliers 18-10, as well as 8-5 in shots on goal.

Kaden Reynolds led all players with four shots, with one landing on goal, while Patrick Tierney, Jimmy Irani, Aashi Pandher and Jonathan Anthony all took two shots. Anthony led The Rock with two shots on goal.

Troy Nine played all 90 minutes as Slippery Rock's goalkeeper. Nine made four saves and allowed one goal in the game.

Sie Parker made his collegiate debut in the 75th minute and played 15 minutes for The Rock.

Bobby Moore's game-winner for the Cavaliers came in the 51st minute of the game. Kostas Paxos earned an assist on Moore's marker.

Pedro Costa kept a clean sheet in goal for Walsh and made eight saves in 90 minutes.

Slippery Rock heads home for its first home game of the season in a non-conference affair 4 p.m. Saturday against the University District of Columbia at James Egli Field. Last season, SRU and UDC played in Washington, D.C. in a match that saw the Firebirds come out victorious, 3-2.
