Rock grabs win vs. District of Columbia, 4-1

The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team grabbed its first win of the season behind four second-half goals in a 4-1 victory over District of Columbia in non-conference action Saturday at James Egli Field.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team grabbed its first win of the season behind four second-half goals in a 4-1 victory over the University of the District of Columbia in non-conference action Saturday at James Egli Field.

Slippery Rock improved its record to 1-1-1 overall with the win, while UDC's overall record dropped to 1-1-1.

With the result, Slippery Rock claims a non-conference win for the 19th consecutive season.

Slippery Rock saw Boele Zwartele and Dylan Greggs scored their first career goals, while Caleb Alldredge scored for the first time in a Rock uniform.

Kaden Reynolds also scored one goal, along with one assist, while Aashi Pandher collected one assist as well for SRU.

Troy Nine started in goal for The Rock and made two saves in the win. Nine picked up his third career victory, after finishing 2025 with a 2-1-1 record.

After a scoreless first half, Pandher drew a foul inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick, less than three minutes into the second half. Reynolds stepped up to take the penalty and buried it with a shot to his left, giving Slippery Rock a 1-0 advantage.

Less than 10 minutes later, The Rock doubled their lead in the 57th minute after Greggs sent home a pass from Pandher on a buildup that started in SRU's own end of the pitch.

The Firebirds cut SRU's lead to one in 79th minute via Christopher Ruiz, while Isaiah Daniel and Alexander Moody-Stuart grabbed assists on the goal.

Then less one minute later, Slippery Rock answered on a goal by Zwartele, restoring it's two-goal lead, 3-1.

With less than two minutes remaining, Alldredge capped off the victory with a goal from Reynolds.

Slippery Rock outshot the District of Columbia, 20-14, as well as 12-3 in shots on goal. The matchup ended with nine combined cards with six going against SRU and three to UDC.

Slippery Rock stays at home as it hosts Robert Wesleyan University in another non-conference matchup 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at James Egli Field.
