SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The undefeated Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team dropped one spot to No. 8 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national rankings and stayed at No. 3 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine national rankings when both organizations updated their Division II national polls Monday.

Slippery Rock, despite being one of just three undefeated teams left in the country, dropped one place to No. 8 this week in the IWLCA poll, which is widely used as the official national ranking during the year. The Rock opened the year at No. 8 in the preseason poll before dropping to No. 11 without playing a game. SRU then jumped up to No. 7 after a 2-0 week to open the season and stayed there for four weeks before falling back to No. 8 this week. SRU opened the year at No. 5 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and climbed to No. 3, where the team stays for the fifth week in a row.

The drop in the poll comes after SRU posted a 2-0 week in PSAC Western Division action last week with a 25-0 road win at Edinboro and a 15-5 road win at Indiana (Pa.). SRU is now 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC West and has outscored divisional opponents 64-7 in its last three outings.

Two teams jumped ahead of The Rock this week with Lynn moving up to No. 4 from No. 8 after going 1-1 last week with a one-goal win over then fourth-ranked Tampa and a 10-6 loss to No. 2 Florida Southern. East Stroudsburg also jumped SRU to move up to No. 7 from No. 9 after going 2-0 last week with a home win over West Chester and a home win over Shepherd.

SRU is one of just three undefeated teams remaining in Division II. The Rock rank first nationally in scoring defense (5.10 goals per game), ninth in scoring offense (16.60 goals per game) and third in scoring margin (+11.50 goals per game).

East Stroudsburg is now the highest ranked team from the Atlantic Region at No. 7 in the IWLCA poll. The Rock come in at No. 8 to give the region two teams in the top 10 this week. West Chester slipped down to No. 11 this week.

Wingate moved up one spot to No. 12 and Kutztown slid one place to No. 16 to give the Atlantic Region five teams in the top 16 this week. The region also has two more teams in the top 25 with No. 22 Seton Hill dropping one place this week and No. 23 Anderson (S.C.) closing out the seven teams from the region in this week's top 25.

Slippery Rock will play a pair of home games this week after being on the road for two games last week. The Rock will welcome No. 22 Seton Hill Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game and will host Lock Haven Saturday at 6 p.m.
