EDINBORO, Pa. – The seventh ranked Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team recorded the program's second-ever shutout in the modern era with a dominant 25-0 win on the road at Edinboro Wednesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game.

The Rock improve to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West and have now outscored their two divisional opponents so far this season 49-2 over the last two games. Edinboro drops its 23rd straight game against SRU to fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC West.

The 25 goals tied for the third most in a game in program history, one shy of the record of 26 goals, and the 25-0 win tied for the largest margin of victory in program history at +25. The shutout marked the first shutout for the program since a 16-0 win at Wheeling Jesuit in 2012, which was the only other shutout win by SRU since bringing the sport back to campus in 2007. The Rock also recorded six shutouts between 1976-85 before dropping the sport after the 1991 season, making Wednesday's shutout the eighth shutout in program history.

Slippery Rock jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and pulled most of its starters before the end of the first half. Every player on the roster appeared in the game and 14 different players tallied points, including 11 different players with multiple points.

Goalies
Lily Ventresca and
Ava Drath combined for the shutout with Ventresca making one save in the first half and Drath recording three saves in the second half. Venresca picked up the win to improve to 8-0 on the season while the duo lowered their combined goals against average to just 5.11 on the year.

Maddie Blazey and
Ava Dossier led the offense with five points each with Blazey scoring two goals and handing out three assists and Dossier netting one goal to go along with four assists.
Claire Petty chipped in one goal and three assists, while
Grace Rotter and
Shannon Von Kaenel each scored three goals and handed out one assist to give SRU five players with at least four points. Von Kaenel also grabbed a game-high nine draw controls, caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls.

Caitlyn Kelly and
Reagan Richeson each netted a hat trick and
Abby Fink added two goals and one assist to finish with three points.
Isabella Buono scored one goal and handed out one assist,
Lauren Petty and
Laurelle Surette each scored two goals,
Erin Melcher and
Madi Leach found the back of the net once each and
Amara Langstaff handed out one assist to round out the point scorers.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 42-9 in total shots, 36-4 in shots on goal, 15-12 in draw controls and 22-7 in ground balls. The Rock were nearly perfect on the clear, going 9-of-10, while limiting Edinboro to just 2-of-14 on clear attempts.

Edinboro got five shots and six draw controls from Rylee Jones. Addy Ours played the first half in goal and took the loss after recording 10 saves and allowing 16 goals.

Slippery Rock will continue a two-game conference road swing this week with a trip to Indiana (Pa.) Saturday for a noon game.
