LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse standout
Paige Jenkins was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week in the Western Division when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its women's lacrosse weekly awards Tuesday.

This marks the third Athlete of the Week award earned by Jenkins this season and the second straight after she was also honored last week.

A junior from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Jenkins led a dominant defensive effort for No. 7 Slippery Rock last week in a pair of wins as The Rock limited two opponents to just eight total goals. SRU earned an 11-6 win on the road at Newberry and a 24-2 home win against Gannon.

Jenkins finished the week with 10 caused turnovers, eight ground balls and six draw controls. She now ranks fourth nationally in caused turnovers per game at 3.25 and leads SRU with 26 caused turnovers, 23 ground balls and 24 draw controls on the year.

Slippery Rock as a team currently ranks No. 2 nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 5.75 goals per game while also ranking No. 2 nationally in caused turnovers per game at 15.00.

The Rock will play a pair of road games in PSAC West action this week with trips to Edinboro Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game and Indiana (Pa.) Saturday for a noon game.
