SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team held steady at No. 7 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national poll and No. 3 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine national poll when the Division II national rankings were updated Monday.

The IWLCA poll is widely used as the official national ranking throughout the season. Slippery Rock opened the year at No. 8 in the preseason poll before slipping to No. 11 before even playing a game. The Rock jumped up to No. 7 after a 2-0 week to open the season and have remained there since. SRU opened the year at No. 5 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and has climbed to No. 3, where they remain for the fourth week in a row.

Slippery Rock stayed near the top of the polls after a 2-0 week last week that included an 11-6 win on the road at Newberry College in South Carolina and a 24-2 win at home over Gannon to open PSAC Western Division play. The Rock improved to 8-0 overall with the wins.

SRU is one of just four undefeated teams remaining in Division II. The Rock rank second nationally in scoring defense (5.75 goals per game), ninth in scoring offense (15.75 goals per game) and fourth in scoring margin (+10.00 goals per game).

Slippery Rock continues to be the top ranked team from the Atlantic Region at No. 7 in the IWLCA poll. The Rock are joined in the top 10 by East Stroudsburg, the only other undefeated team in the region, at No. 9 and West Chester at No. 10 to give the PSAC and the Atlantic Region three teams in this week's top 10.

Wingate held its spot at No. 13 and Kutztown stayed at No. 15 to give the Atlantic Region five teams in the top 15 this week. The region also has two more teams in the top 25 with No. 21 Seton Hill and No. 23 Anderson (S.C.) closing out the seven teams from the region in this week's top 25.

Slippery Rock will continue PSAC West play with a pair of road games this week, traveling to Edinboro Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game and visiting Indiana (Pa.) Saturday for a noon game.
