LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University lacrosse standout
Reagan Richeson was named the Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards Tuesday.
Â
A junior from Lewis Center, Ohio, Richeson picked up the defensive award in the Western Division for her performance in The Rock's 19-4 win at D'Youville last week in SRU's lone game of the week.
Â
Richeson scored four goals on four shots to tie for the team-lead on the offensive side of the field, but picked up the weekly award from the PSAC thanks to her play in the transition game, where she caused a career-high five turnovers on the ride, forcing five of the seven failed clear attempts by the Saints.
Â
She also picked up four ground balls to finish her day with four goals, five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Â
Richeson leads on players on the SRU roster with 15 goals so far this spring and she ranks tied for third on the team with eight ground balls.
Â
Undefeated and seventh-ranked Slippery Rock is back in action Wednesday at home with a 4 p.m. non-conference game against Wheeling University.
