Rock sweeps PSAC lacrosse weekly awards

Grace Rotter was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week and Paige Jenkins was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week as The Rock swept the first weekly awards handed out by the PSAC Wednesday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University swept the Western Division Athlete of the Week awards when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first women's lacrosse weekly awards of the season Wednesday.
 
Grace Rotter, a senior attacker from Beverly Hills, Michigan, was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week and Paige Jenkins, a junior defender from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week.
 
The awards come after Slippery Rock opened the 2026 season last week with a pair of wins over defending conference champions and NCAA Tournament qualifiers. The Rock kicked off the season with an 18-9 win at home against reigning GMAC champion Ashland and then went on the road and knocked off No. 5 West Chester to hand the Golden Rams' their first regular season defeat since March 22, 2022, snapping a streak of 60 straight regular season wins.
 
Rotter tallied 10 total points and 13 draw controls over the two games with five points in each game. She scored two goals and handed out three assists to go along with 10 draw controls in the win over Ashland and then scored handed out two assists and scored three goals, including the fourth quarter game-winner, in the victory at West Chester.
 
Jenkins led The Rock defense with five caused turnovers, six ground balls and three draw controls across the two games, despite missing the second half of the opener after a pair of yellow cards. She had two caused turnovers and two ground balls against Ashland and finished with three caused turnovers, four ground balls and three draw controls in the win at West Chester.
 
Those victories moved The Rock up to No. 7 in this week's IWLCA national rankings and up to No. 5 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll. SRU will play its third straight defending conference champion and NCAA Tournament qualifier from last spring when GLIAC champion and 19th ranked Grand Valley State visits SRU this Sunday for a noon game.
