No. 7 Rock to host No. 1 Kutztown

Following a five-game road trip, the No. 7 Slippery Rock field hockey team returns home to host No. 1 Kutztown 11 a.m. Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Following a five-game road trip, the No. 7 Slippery Rock University field hockey team returns home to host No. 1 Kutztown University 11 a.m. Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
 
PARKING INFORMATION
Reserved parking lots surrounding Mihalik-Thompson Stadium will close 5 a.m. Saturday and re-open at 2 p.m. for the SRU-Seton Hill football game. SRU Athletics kindly asks that any spectator attending the field hockey game against Kutztown please avoid parking in Mihalik-Thompson Stadium lots A, B, or G. Any vehicle in these lots prior to 2 p.m. will be towed at the expense of the vehicle owner.
 
Spectators and officials are encouraged to park in Mihalik-Thompson Stadium lots F, D, C or the East Lake Parking Lot (Large parking lot next to the baseball field). ADA and team bus parking for MT Stadium will not be affected. A map of parking lots around Mihalik-Thompson Stadium can be viewed HERE.
 
LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME
Fans are reminded that there are NO PETS allowed at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium, or in any SRU athletics facilities. Please do not bring dogs or any other pets to the game. Unless they are a registered service animal, you will be asked to remove your pet from the facility.

SERIES HISTORY
Kutztown has won its last eight games against The Rock to improve its all-time record in the series to 44-7. SRU's last victory over the Golden Bears came in 2017 when Kayla Ulrich scored two goals and Kailee Krupski put home the eventual game-winner in the 64th minute for a 3-2 win at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT (Box Score)
Slippery Rock turned a three-goal deficit into a one-score game in the second half, but couldn't complete its comeback bid in a 3-2 loss Wednesday at Shippensburg.
 
The Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead following a trio of goals in the second quarter before Hilary Hoffman and Riley Cloude scored early third-quarter goals to bring SRU to within one in the valiant comeback effort.
 
HALL OF FAMERS TO BE RECOGNIZED
Two former members of the Slippery Rock field hockey program were named to the SRU Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2026.
 
Vicki (Peterson) Eberhart and Gabrielle Malishchak will join five other former Slippery Rock greats as the latest members to join the SRU Athletics Hall of Fame when the 2026 class is enshrined Friday.
 
Both Eberhart and Malishchak will be recognized prior to Saturday's game, with Malishchak taking part in a ceremonial pass back.
 
In addition to being a two-time All-PSAC honoree in field hockey who still owns the single-season record for points per game, Eberhart was one of a rare group of athletes at Slippery Rock that not just participated in multiple sports, but excelled and earned numerous honors in multiple sports. She won two PSAC titles in the high jump and one PSAC title in the pole vault, was an All-American in the high jump.
 
Malishchak is the only four-time All-PSAC honoree in SRU field hockey history and the only first team All-American in program history. She still ranks fifth all-time at SRU in assists, played on an SRU team that reached as high as a No. 8 national ranking.
 
MOST WINS SINCE 2017, TIED FOR 7TH ALL-TIME
With eight regular season games still to be played in 2026, this year's team has achieved the highest win total inside the program since 2017 (10-9). Additionally, this year's team is already tied for the seventh most wins in a single-season in program history.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• Starting goalkeeper Sam Black, the reigning National Field Hockey Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Week, has been dynamic for The Rock this season. The fifth-year veteran has compiled a .800 save percentage, 1.04 goals against average and 32 saves through 463 minutes on the field. She ranks sixth in the country in save percentage and seventh in GAA.
 
• Leading the way for Slippery Rock's offensive attack is Lucy Hutchinson, who enters the Kutztown game with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists while placing 34 shots on goal. She ranks third in Division II in points per game (2.67) and fourth in goals per game (1.11).
 
• Supplementing Hutchinson's scoring at five goals apiece is the trio of Coral Piramo, Grace Williams and Hilary Hoffman. Piramo is also tied for second on The Rock in assists with three.
 
• The Shippensburg game marked the 50th career appearance for Hoffman.
 
• Delaney Evans is Slippery Rock's other multi-goal scorer to date. The freshman has come off the bench to provide The Rock with three goals nine games into her collegiate career.
 
• Josie Shultz and Riley Cloude have etched out a matching stat line of five points on one goal and three assists.
 
• Likewise, Roz Mikulak and Keila Schutte-Hanekom both have four points via one goal and two assists.
 
• Tatiana Calderon (1 G), Paige Shannon (1 A) and Haylie Sucharski (1 A) round out The Rock's offensive leaders. Sucharski has also registered a team-high two defensive saves.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS
• Kutztown, which comes to SRU as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation and as a program that has played for two of the last three NCAA championships including a national title win in 2023 and a runner-up finish in 2024, is one of only five undefeated teams left in the entire NCAA regardless of division.
 
• Inside Division II, Kutztown leads the nation in goals against average (0.36), goals per game (5.73), penalty corners per game (14.64), points per game (14.91), save percentage (.867) and scoring margin (5.37).  
 
• Marissa Rice (12) and Ellie Myers (10) lead an explosive Golden Bear offense with 22 combined goals. Nine other KU athletes have multiple goals this season as well. Marlee Fetrow has logged a team-high eight assists.  
 
• Defensively, Kutztown has registered eight shutouts on the year. Starting goalie Lorelai Lehenky has yet to allow a goal in her 453 minutes of playing time.
