ROCK CLIMBS TO No. 7
Slippery Rock moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest national poll, released Tuesday by the NFHCA. SRU's newest ranking is the second highest positioning in the national poll in program history.

DOWN TO 2 IN D2
Slippery Rock opens the week as one of only two undefeated teams remaining in Division II along with Kutztown (10-0). If SRU were to defeat Shippensburg and Kutztown earned a win against Millersville in their Wednesday games, it would set up a battle of unbeatens between The Rock and Golden Bears Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

STREAKING
Slippery Rock's eight-game winning streak is the second longest in Division II and tied for the sixth best active string of consecutive wins in entire NCAA regardless of division.

BLACK EARNS WEEKLY HONOR
Sam Black was named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week after leading SRU to a 2-1 conference victory on the road at Millersville.

In anchoring Slippery Rock's defense, Black was credited with six saves as SRU improved its undefeated record to 8-0 in 2026. Black's six saves were the most by a PSAC goalie in a victory last week.

A transfer from Wagner College, Black has been stellar in her first season at The Rock. A starter in all eight games, Black's recorded a .800 save percentage with 20 stops alongside a 0.74 goals against average.

On the Division II national stage, Black ranks sixth among all qualified goalies in GAA and eighth in save percentage. Of the 13 Division II goalkeepers to have played over 400 minutes this season, Black is one of just three athletes to have surrendered no more than five goals.

FRESHMEN GET IT DONE ON THE ROAD
The Rock's win over Millersville featured the rookie duo of Josie Shultz and Tatiana Calderon supplying SRU's offensive production. Shultz converted the game's first goal on a penalty stroke, while Calderon scored the game-winner in the 53rd minute on a shot that was assisted by Shultz.

STARTING PSAC PLAY STRONG
The Rock's victory over Millersville marked the first time SRU won its first conference game of the season since beating West Chester, 4-3, in 2017. The 2017 season is also the last time SRU won its first two league games as it returned home to best IUP in 2-1 fashion following the win at West Chester.

MOST WINS SINCE 2017, TIED FOR 7TH ALL-TIME
With nine regular season games still to be played in 2026, this year's team has achieved the highest win total inside the program since 2017 (10-9). Additionally, this year's team is already tied for the seventh most wins in a single-season in program history.

MALISHCHAK + EBERHART TO ROCK HALL OF FAME
Two former members of the Slippery Rock field hockey program were named to the SRU Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2026.

Vicki (Peterson) Eberhart and Gabrielle Malishchak will join five other former Slippery Rock greats as the latest members to join the SRU Athletics Hall of Fame when the 2026 class is enshrined Oct. 9.

In addition to being a two-time All-PSAC honoree in field hockey who still owns the single-season record for points per game, Eberhart was one of a rare group of athletes at Slippery Rock that not just participated in multiple sports, but excelled and earned numerous honors in multiple sports. She won two PSAC titles in the high jump and one PSAC title in the pole vault, was an All-American in the high jump.

Malishchak is the only four-time All-PSAC honoree in SRU field hockey history and the only first team All-American in program history. She still ranks fifth all-time at SRU in assists, played on an SRU team that reached as high as a No. 8 national ranking.
