The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team closes its non-conference schedule for the season in a PSAC crossover against Shepherd 3 p.m. Saturday at James Egli Field.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team closes its non-conference schedule for the season in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover against Shepherd University 3 p.m. Saturday at James Egli Field.

PARKING NOTE
Reserved parking lots surrounding Mihalik-Thompson Stadium will open at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, for the SRU versus Gannon football game. THIS WILL AFFECT PARKING AT EGLI FIELD. SRU Athletics kindly asks that any spectator attending the men's soccer game versus Shepherd at 3 p.m. please avoid parking in Stadium Lots A, B, C, D or G. Any vehicle in these lots prior to 2pm will be towed at the expense of the vehicle owner. Spectators/officials may park in the East Lake Parking Lot (Large parking lot at Jack Critchfield Park.) ADA and bus parking for Egli Field will not be affected. 

RING OF HONOR
Saturday marks the return of the Slippery Rock Ring of Honor. Established in 2011, the SRU Ring of Honor recognizes past significant contributors from both the men's and women's soccer programs.
 
The 2026 induction class consists of Shaun Below, Patrick Conley, Tom Kent, Thomas Watyka and Cheryl Wickerham. The group will be formally inducted in a ceremony Saturday at the Russell Wright Alumni House & Conference Center.
 
2026 Ring of Honor inductees will also be recognized at halftime of Saturday's game.

NO PETS AT EGLI FIELD
Fans are reminded that there are NO PETS allowed at James Egli Field or in any SRU Athletics facilities. Please do not bring dogs or any other pets to the game. Unless they are a registered service animal, you will be asked to remove your pet from the facility.

SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock holds an impressive 6-1-2 record overall against Shepherd as well as a 4-0-1 record at home against the Rams. The two teams first played in 1997, but the series then took a 13-year hiatus until 2010 for the two to play each other again. The Rock and the Rams have played every season since Shepherd joined the PSAC in 2019-20.

Last season, Shepherd grabbed its first win in the series against Slippery Rock with a 3-0 victory at the Shepherd Soccer Complex.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock scored the lone goal of the second half to draw Lock Haven in PSAC West play, 2-2, Wednesday evening at James Egli Field.

Kaden Reynolds scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season and Christopher Merrill put home his first career goal, while Reynolds, Boele Zwartele and Gabin Lonjard each earned one assist for The Rock.

Reynolds (4) and Merrill (2) were the only Slippery Rock players to take multiple shots against the Bald Eagles.

Troy Nine started in goal for The Rock and surrendered the two Lock Haven shots on goal.

The Rock ended the game with advantages in corner kicks (8-5) and shots on goal (6-2), while Lock Haven took four more shots than SRU (14-10).

THE ROCK IN PSAC CROSSOVERS
Since 2019, Slippery Rock has played in 15 PSAC crossover games and has a 5-5-5 record with a +5 goal differential (25-20). 

FRIENDLY CONFINES OF JAMES EGLI FIELD
Since the 2018 season, Slippery Rock owns a 33-18-10 record at James Egli Field. In that span, The Rock hold a +27 goal differential in home games (103-76).

LEADING THE ROCK
After nine games, Reynolds paces The Rock with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Zwartele follows Reynolds with six points on three goals, while Jimmy Irani sits at two goals. Dylan Greggs, Ryan Hanes, Caleb Alldredge and Jonathan Anthony each have one goal on the season as well, while Aashi Pandher leads SRU with four assists.

Reynolds also leads SRU in shots with 38 and shots on goal with 18. Pandher follows Reynolds with 25 shots and 12 on goal, while Gabin Lonjard rounds out Slippery Rock's top three shot takers with 10.

Slippery Rock's minutes leader in the field in 2026 is Patrick Tierney, who has totaled 745 minutes (82.8 mpg).

SHEPHERD SCOUTING REPORT
The Rams are looking to get themselves back in the win column after a 1-0 loss at West Chester University broke a four-game unbeaten streak for Shepherd. The Rams enter the matchup with The Rock holding a 4-2-3 record overall and a 1-2-2 mark in the PSAC East.

Josh Petty leads Shepherd in goals (3) and points (6) after nine games. Petty is followed by Harry Booth, Moulay El Yagouti and Josue Guzman who all have four points.

Junior goalkeeper has played every minute in goal for Shepherd and holds a 1.00 GAA with a .827 save percentage on 43 saves and one clean sheet.
