Rock to end road swing at Frostburg State

The Slippery Rock field hockey team concludes its four-game road trip with a non-conference contest 4 p.m. Tuesday at Frostburg State.

SERIES HISTORY
While Slippery Rock owns an 18-12-1 all-time record against the Bobcats, Frostburg State has controlled the series as of late with three wins over the last four games. SRU and FSU split two games a year ago with The Rock earning a 2-1 victory at home in non-conference play while the Bobcats took a 1-0 overtime decision in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest.
 
Hilary Hoffman has one assist as the only active member of The Rock's roster with a career point against FSU.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• Lucy Hutchinson has placed six of her nine shots in 2025 on target while scoring a team-high four goals, three of which have been game-winners.
 
• Hoffman, Coral Piramo and Madison Shomo have all scored goals as well with Hoffman also adding two assists to rank second on The Rock behind Hutchinson in total points with four.
 
• Roz Mikulak and Grace Williams round out SRU's point scorers through the early stages of the season with two assists and one assist, respectively.
 
• Emily Newton and Leah Riegling have split goalkeeping duties this season with three appearances each. Newton has started the last two games while totaling 28 saves overall in 2025 on a .800 save percentage to go with a 2.59 Goals Against Average.
 
• Haylie Sucharski registered SRU's lone defensive save this season with a stop against nationally ranked Shippensburg.
 
• Slippery Rock heads to Frostburg State ranked ninth in Division II (34 teams) in save percentage (.804) with Newton ranking seventh individually in saves per game (9.33).
 
WHEELS REMEMBRANCE GAME IS SATURDAY
All alumni, friends and family of the Slippery Rock field hockey program are invited to attend SRU's Saturday contest against Millersville for the team's Meghan "Wheels" McKinney remembrance game.
 
The Wheels Remembrance Game will serve as a celebration of life for McKinney, who tragically passed away Sept. 29, 2015. Alumni, family and friends of the field hockey program are invited to attend the game, which is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
 
After the game, all attendees who wish to take part are invited to join the current team and members of McKinney's family by the bench that was dedicated in McKinney's honor outside of the Field Hockey / Lacrosse Center for a group picture.
 
Additionally, there will be a social gathering that night for program alumni at the Slippery Rock – California (Pa.) football game. Alumni who are planning to attend are asked to RSVP by e-mailing Revesz at melissa.revesz@sru.edu.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
• Frostburg State welcomes The Rock in search of its first win of the year after opening the year with losses to Newberry (5-0), Lander (2-1), Mansfield (4-0), Wingate (3-2), Shippensburg (5-0) and East Stroudsburg (5-0).
 
• Paige Leitzel, who assisted on FSU's overtime game-winning goal in last year's victory over SRU, leads the Bobcats with three points on one goal and one assist.
 
• Mikyla Rineer and Rachel Young have scored Frostburg State's other two goals.
 
• Zoe Barnes has played every second in goal for the Bobcats this season, making a PSAC-high 60 saves on a .714 save percentage along with a 4.15 GAA.
