SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University cross country and track & field programs placed 10 student-athletes on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team that was announced Tuesday.

The Academic All-District teams are nominated for by the athletic communication professionals at each college throughout the nation. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must be at least sophomores in athletic and academic standing, must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must rank in the top 50 in the region in their respective event and should have significant athletic credentials, such as All-Conference or All-Region recognition. Performances from cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field are all considered. Each institution may only nominate a maximum of five men and five women for the award.

Slippery Rock's women are represented by five student-athletes that earned multiple All-Region honors in 2024-25 and a pair of student-athletes that earned All-America honors. That group includes distance runner
Anna Igims, javelin thrower
Isabella Bartoletti, sprinter and jumper
Samantha Gilbert and distance runners
Ruthie Hughes and
Jennifer Cichra.

The Rock men are represented by five athletes that earned All-Region honors in 2024-25 and a pair of men that earned All-America honors. That group includes pole vaulter

Seaton Wozniak and
Joshua Gose, hurdler
Matthew Crow and multi-event athlete
Zack Duda.

Igims and Gose become three-time Academic All-District selections, while Crow and Wozniak pick up their second straight Academic All-District award.

All 10 of SRU's Academic All-District honorees were advanced forward to the Academic All-America ballot by a national committee that chooses which district selections move forward. The nation's athletic communication professionals will vote on the Academic All-America ballot over the coming weeks before the Academic All-America teams are be announced July 15 (women) and July 16 (men).

ISABELLA BARTOLETTI
Academics: Bartoletti owns a 3.73 GPA after completing 120 credit hours as a neuroscience major with a minor in chemistry. She is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a three-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree and a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.

Athletics: Bartoletti earned her first career All-America honor with an 11th place finish in the javelin at the National Championships this spring. She entered the meet seeded 22nd as the last accepted entry in the field and moved up 11 places from her seed to pick up second team All-America honors. Bartoletti was the PSAC runner-up in the javelin, behind the eventual national champion, and ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region with a career-best throw of 45.17 meters this spring. She is now a two-time All-PSAC and two-time All-Region honoree in the javelin.

JENNIFER CICHRA
Academics: One of the top overall students on the SRU campus, Cichra owns a perfect 4.0 GPA with 150 completed credit hours while majoring in mechanical engineering. She was recognized this year by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at a national conference for her work designing and 3D printing an attachment for shoes to help create traction for runners in the winter. She is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree in cross country.

Athletics: Cichra was awarded the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award for cross country this fall in recognition of owning the highest GPA of all women competing at the National Championship meet. She became the first SRU female student-athlete in any sport to win an Elite 90 award. Cichra was a first team All-PSAC honoree and earned All-Region honors in cross country, helping The Rock to the PSAC team title. She also earned All-Region honors and picked up a PSAC title on the track as a member of the distance medley relay during the indoor season.

SAMANTHA GILBERT
Academics: Gilbert earned her undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock in health care administration and management with a 3.85 GPA before completing two graduate certificate programs in digital health and leadership. She posted a 3.87 GPA through 45 credit hours of graduate work. Gilbert is a five-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree that completed 174 academic credit hours during her athletic career.

Athletics: Gilbert shattered the SRU records in the 60-meter dash (7.50 seconds) and 200-meter dash (24.46) at the PSAC Indoor Championships to be named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the meet after winning conference titles in both events. She followed that up by breaking the SRU record in the 200-meter dash (24.46) during the outdoor season as well and will leave The Rock with five school records as she also owns the 100-meter dash (11.71 seconds) record and is a member of the 4x100-meter relay (46.28) record. Gilbert earned All-Region honors in four different events in 2024-25 and finishes her career as a nine-time All-PSAC honoree and a seven-time All-Region honoree.

RUTHIE HUGHES
Academics: Hughes owns a 3.97 GPA after 99 credit hours while majoring in psychology. She is a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a three-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree.

Athletics: Hughes earned All-Region honors in all three seasons in 2024-25 and placed in the top three in every PSAC championship event she competed in. She took third overall at the PSAC cross country championships to earn first team All-PSAC honors before adding All-Region honors at the Atlantic Region meet. She followed that up by earning All-PSAC honors with runner-up finishes in the 3K and 5K and a third place showing in the mile indoor, but she saved her best for the spring. Hughes won her first career individual PSAC title when she dominated the 10,000-meter run before taking second in the 5K to earn two more All-PSAC honors outdoor. She posted the No. 1 time in the region in the 10K (35:48). Hughes is an eight-time All-PSAC honoree and a five-time All-Region honoree with four of those All-Region awards coming in 2024-25.

ANNA IGIMS
Academics: One of the most decorated student-athletes in the entire PSAC, Igims graduated in 2024 with a 3.98 GPA and a degree in school wellness education with a minor in public health. She completed a full year of graduate work in 2024-25 with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the applied behavioral analysis program. A 2024 Academic All-America honoree, Igims is now a three-time Academic All-District honoree, a six-time USTFCCA All-Academic selection, a five-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a five-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree. She was also the lone female student-athlete in the PSAC to earn the Division II 50th Anniversary Scholarship in 2024.

Athletics: Igims was unbeatable in the PSAC in 2024-25. She won seven PSAC individual titles and led Slippery Rock to team titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field. She opened the year by winning the PSAC and Atlantic Region titles in cross country, becoming the first SRU female distance runner to ever accomplish that feat. She followed that up by earning All-America honors at the National Championships in the fall, becoming the first SRU female cross country All-American since 2010. She was named the PSAC and Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year in the fall. Igims then won three PSAC titles at the indoor conference meet, taking the crown in the distance medley relay, the mile and the 3,000-meter run. She earned All-Region honors with the fastest time in the region in four different events and placed 17th in the 5,000-meter run at the National Championships before being named the PSAC and Atlantic Region Track Athlete of the Year. Igims closed her year with a stellar spring, winning PSAC titles in the 1,500-meter run, 5,000-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase on the way to being named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete and the Overall MVP at the PSAC Championships. She broke the SRU record in the steeplechase twice during the year (10:17) and earned first team All-America honors with a seventh place finish at the National Championships. She was named the PSAC Track Athlete of the Year to complete a year-long sweep with three PSAC Athlete of the Year awards. Igims departs Slippery Rock with school records in the indoor mile (4:55), outdoor 5K (16:38) and steeplechase (10:17). She is a three-time All-American, a 14-time PSAC champion, a six-time PSAC Athlete of the Year, a three-time Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year, a 21-time All-PSAC honoree and a 21-time All-Region selection.

MATTHEW CROW
Academics: Crow owns a 3.80 GPA after 96 credits in the sport management major at Slippery Rock, where he also minors in leadership and business management. He is now a two-time Academic All-District selection, a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a three-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree.

Athletics: Crow broke his own SRU record in the 60-meter hurdles multiple times this indoor season before repeating as the PSAC champion in the event and lowering his record to 8.07 seconds. He also picked up a second PSAC title this year as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team outdoor, which broke the SRU record in 40.46 seconds. Crow was All-Region in both of those events this year and is now a five-time All-Region honoree, a six-time PSAC champion and an eight-team All-PSAC honoree. In addition to his efforts in the 60-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay, Crow also took fifth for The Rock at the PSAC outdoor meet in the 110-meter hurdles.

ZACK DUDA
Academics: Duda earned his undergraduate degree in exercise science with a 3.71 GPA and just completed his Master of Business Administration degree with a 3.91 GPA after totaling more than 150 credit hours during his career. He is a five-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a five-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree.

Athletics: Duda posted the No. 24 mark in the nation this spring in the decathlon on his way to finishing fifth at the PSAC Championships in the most competitive decathlon in PSAC history. He posted a score of 6,729 points in a field that included four of the top 16 decathlon marks in the country. He also ranked seventh in the region indoor in the pentathlon and finished the year ranked in the top 35 in the region in six different events between indoor and outdoor. He was a two-time All-Region honoree and a 14-time PSAC qualifier that scored points for The Rock in five different conference meets during his career. Duda also served as the graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning office this year and devoted many hours to helping SRU student-athletes in all sports.

JOSHUA GOSE
Academics: Gose has compiled a perfect 4.0 GPA through the entirety of his undergraduate and graduate studies at Slippery Rock. He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration and has maintained the perfect GPA through a full year of graduate work in the MBA program. In total, Gose has completed 148 credit hours with a perfect academic record. He is a two-time Academic All-America honoree, including a first team selection in 2024, and is a three-time Academic All-District honoree. Gose is also a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a four-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree and a four-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree. He was honored with the PSAC Champion Scholar Award this spring for the second year in a row for owning the highest GPA of all men competing at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.

Athletics: Gose highlighted his final year of eligibility at SRU by winning the shot put individual title at the historic Penn Relays with a mark of 17.46 meters, which ranked No. 24 among all throwers in the nation this spring. He earned All-PSAC honors in the shot put during the winter and spring with third place showings at the conference meets and also earned All-Region honors in both seasons as well. Gose closed his career with an impressive eight All-PSAC and All-Region awards in the shot put, placing in the top three in every PSAC meet he competed in and posting one of the top five throws in the region in every season he competed. He claimed one PSAC individual title and ranked in the top 25 nationally in the shot put indoor and outdoor in each of the last two years. Gose also served as a graduate assistant coach at SRU this year and spent his time running back and forth from his own events to other throws events to help coach his peers. He was an invaluable member of the two-time PSAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

DREW LAYTON
Academics: Layton picks up the Academic All-District honor in his first opportunity after putting up a 3.63 GPA through his sophomore season majoring in environmental geoscience. He is a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a two-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree.

Athletics: Layton established himself as the best pole vaulter in PSAC history during his sophomore season, breaking the SRU and all-time conference records during both the indoor and the outdoor seasons and doing it with dramatic performances at the National Championships. He comfortably won PSAC titles during both seasons and tallied the No. 1 mark in the Atlantic Region to become a four-time All-PSAC and four-time All-Region selection. At the indoor national meet, he shattered the PSAC record with a sixth place finish and a mark of 5.24 meters on his way to earning first team All-America honors. He followed that up with a seventh place finish at outdoor nationals with a PSAC record mark of 5.22 meters. Through just two seasons at SRU, Layton is a three-time All-American, a four-time All-Region honoree, a four-time All-PSAC honoree and a two-time PSAC champion in the pole vault.

SEATON WOZNIAK
Academics: Wozniak owns a perfect 4.0 GPA after completing 91 credit hours in the business management program at SRU. He earned Academic All-America honors in 2024 and is now a two-time Academic All-District honoree, a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a three-time D2ADA Academic Achievement honoree.

Athletics: Wozniak had a breakout 2024-25 campaign, setting a new SRU record in the indoor shot put before earning his first career All-America honor in the outdoor shot put. He broke the SRU indoor record with a career-best throw of 17.58 meters and went on to finish 16th at the National Championships in his debut appearance at nationals. Wozniak followed that up this spring by setting a new career-best mark with a throw of 17.82 meters and earning his first career All-America honor with a 10th place finish in the shot put at the National Championships. He earned All-Region honors in the event during both seasons with the No. 2 mark in the Atlantic Region. He also scored for SRU in the discus at the PSAC outdoor meet. Wozniak is now a four-time All-Region honoree and a three-time All-PSAC honoree in the shot put.
