Jordan named Atlantic Region Coach of the Year

Slippery Rock head track & field coach Bill Jordan was named the Atlantic Region Women's Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2025 outdoor season, marking his fourth Regional Coach of the Year honor.

NEW ORLEANS – Slippery Rock University head track & field coach Bill Jordan was named Monday as the Atlantic Region Women's Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association when the organization announced its NCAA Division II regional award winners.

Jordan sweeps the 2024-25 Atlantic Region major awards on the women's side after also being named the 2024-25 Coach of the Year for the indoor track & field season. He is now a four-time Atlantic Region Coach of the Year with two indoor honors (2024 and 2025) and two outdoor honors (2023 and 2025).

The latest recognition comes after Jordan and his staff led The Rock women to the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference outdoor title to complete a year-long sweep of conference victories. SRU also won the PSAC cross country crown in the fall and took the indoor title in the winter.

Slippery Rock won eight of the 21 events at the PSAC Championships this spring and scored points in 19 of the 21 total events on the way to a commanding victory with 171 total points. No other team in the league topped the 100-point marker.

Slippery Rock had qualified three women for the National Championships with Anna Igims (steeplechase), Isabella Bartoletti (javelin) and Sarah Corrie (shot put) all earning trips to nationals. Igims (first team) and Bartoletti (second team) both earned All-America finishes at the national meet.

The Rock women broke four program records this spring with Anna Igims breaking the SRU steeplechase record twice (10:17.13) and the 5,000-meter record (16:38.85) in addition to Samantha Gilbert breaking the 200-meter dash record (24.46 seconds).

The 2024-25 academic year marked the third year for Jordan as the head coach at Slippery Rock and his 19th year as a member of the coaching staff.
