SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University director of athletics
Roberta Page announced Thursday that head field hockey coach
Rayell Wallace will step down from her position to accept the head coaching job for the field hockey program at Shippensburg University.
Â
Page also announced Thursday that assistant coach
Missy Revesz will lead The Rock as interim head coach until a search for the program's next head coach is conducted.
Â
Wallace, who became the 13th head coach in SRU field hockey history prior to the canceled 2020 season, compiled a 22-44 record over her five years in charge at SRU. She leaves Slippery Rock as the fourth-winningest coach in program history.
Â
Under Wallace's watch, two Slippery Rock athletes earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors in Addy Ross (2021, 2022) and
Hilary Hoffman (2024). Additionally, three Rock athletes – Ross (2022), Jessie Trube (2021) and Kaya Del Vecchio (2022) - were selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Game under Wallace's tutelage.
Â
Academically, Wallace maintained SRU field hockey's long established reputation as one of the top academic programs in all of Division II with 79 NFHCA All-Academic Squad selections and 41 NFHCA Scholars of Distinction during her tenure.
Â
Most recently, The Rock led the nation with nine Scholars of Distinction in 2024-25. Â
Â
Prior to her arrival at SRU, Wallace served as an assistant coach at Miami University from 2015-19. At Miami, she played an instrumental role in leading the RedHawks to a 65-40 (.619) record, four Mid-American Conference regular season titles, three MAC Championships and three NCAA Tournament berths.
Â
Wallace's last official day at Slippery Rock will be May 14.
Revesz, a 2015 Kent State University alumna, has been a member of the Slippery Rock field hockey staff since 2018 and has been a collegiate coach each year since she finished her playing career with the Golden Flashes. She spent two seasons as an assistant at the College of Wooster and one season at Oberlin College before joining the staff at Slippery Rock.
