Slippery Rock first hosts No. 2 Shippensburg University 4 p.m. Wednesday followed by a noon Saturday matchup against No. 6 West Chester University.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS GAME
In conjunction with the President's Commission on Women, Slippery Rock is hosting its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Games on Wednesday as part of the field hockey – women's soccer doubleheader at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. A variety of giveaways, raffle baskets and activities have been planned.

• At halftime of the women's soccer game there will be a giveaway for pair of AirPods (Only SRU students with a valid SRU ID are eligible to enter).

• Gift baskets will be raffled off during both the field hockey and women's soccer games. Items being raffled off currently include:

West Chester enters Saturday with a 14-1 all-time record against Slippery Rock. SRU's lone win to date in the series came in 2017 when Allison Grant and Kailee Krupski scored goals in the final seven minutes of regulation on the way to a 4-3 upset of the third-ranked Golden Rams.

Slippery Rock's 1-0 victory over Frostburg State on Oct. 15 marked The Rock's fifth win of the season. No matter what happens the rest of the year, SRU's current record has already surpassed its win totals from both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Slippery Rock needs to win two of its final four games to match the program's previous eight-year high victory total of seven games which was set in both 2021 and 2022.

60 of The Rock's 95 wins (63.2 percent) over the last 12 years have come at the friendly confines of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. SRU is 4-2 in home games this year.

A LOOK AT THE SENIORS

Christina Clymer: Joined the Slippery Rock field hockey program after beginning collegiate career at Ball State University. She is yet to miss a game in a Rock uniform with 29 consecutive appearances, 25 of which have been starts. Clymer ranks sixth in program history in defensive saves with six while also placing 10 of her 21 career shots on goal.

Sammy Graci: A four-year member of the program, Graci has played in 49 games over the course of Slippery Rock career while making 24 starts. She's totaled four points on one goal and two assists while placing eight of her 10 career shots on goal and making three defensive saves, the 13th highest career total in SRU history.

Megan Rude: A four-year member of the program who has been a constant on the field for Slippery Rock over the entirety of her career. Rude's never missed a game in her collegiate career with 63 consecutive appearances, 61 of which have been starts. She ranks 11th in program history for consecutive games played. While being a standout defender, Rude has also scored three career goals.

Julia Boettler: A junior in terms of athletic eligibility, Boettler will also be concluding her career this season. Over her three years with The Rock, Boettler has started six of her 27 games played while totaling one assist. She's appeared in all 13 games this year while earning a career-high in playing time.

Madison Shomo: Like Boettler, Shomo will be forgoing her final season of athletic eligibility, Shomo has missed just one game over her career at SRU with 36 starts in 45 appearances. She's totaled 13 points on six goals and one assist while placing 19 of her 30 career shots on target.

While Slippery Rock does not play an abundance of Wednesday home games, when SRU does take to the turf of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium for a mid-week contest, it usually wins. Since the 2020 season, Slippery Rock is 6-1 when playing home games on a Wednesday.

• Slippery Rock opens the week averaging 1.15 goals per game on 9.1 attempts per contest and 5.7 penalty corners a night.

• Hutchinson continues to lead The Rock in both goals (5) and total points (10) over her nine games played. She's placed seven of her 13 shots on goal, with three of her scores being eventual game-winners.

• Williams holds sole possession of second place on SRU's points ledger with six on two goals and two assists. She is one of two Rock athletes to have recorded double-digit shots on goal this season with 10.

Coral Piramo, who scored the game-winning goal in SRU's recent victory over Frostburg State, ranks third on the team in total points with five by way of two goals and one assist. Piramo has placed eight of her 11 total attempts on goal.

• Shippensburg comes to The Rock as the second-ranked team in the nation. While the Raiders have lost two of their last three games they have both been one-goal setbacks against nationally ranked teams in East Stroudsburg (3-2) and Bloomsburg (1-0, double overtime).

• Shippensburg comes to Mihalik-Thompson Stadium leading the nation in GAA and save percentage in addition to ranking fifth in scoring margin (+2.47) and sixth in penalty corners per game (10.29).
