PITTSBURG, Kan. – Slippery Rock University pole vaulter
Kendall Grossman earned second team All-America honors with a 12th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships Friday evening at Pittsburg State University.
Â
Grossman, a senior from West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, was making her debut appearance at a National Championship meet. She entered the competition tied for the No. 14 seed and improved two places on her seeding to finish in a tie for 12th place with a clearance of 3.77 meters (12'4.5").
Â
The top eight individual finishers are named first team All-Americans, while finishers 9-12 are named second team All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Â
Grossman becomes just the third female pole vaulter in SRU history to earn indoor All-America honors, joining two-time All-Americans Courtney McQuaide (2018, 2019) and Jen Hansen (2009, 2010).
Â
The lone SRU entry at this year's indoor national meet, Grossman will now shift her focus to the 2024 outdoor season, joining the rest of her teammates to open the season next weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte 49er Classic.
