SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University Athletics Department will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day at its home basketball doubleheader Feb. 17. All children will be admitted free and parents and guardians will receive a discount on tickets for the games against Pitt-Johnstown.
 
To celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, members of the current SRU women's sports teams will be available for a meet and greet in the lobby of Morrow Field House beginning at noon and lasting for one hour leading up to the tip of the women's game at 1 p.m.
 
All youth that attend the event will have the chance to meet, mingle and get autographs from current Slippery Rock female student-athletes from the sports of cross country, track & field, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, tennis, softball and lacrosse. Following the women's basketball game, The Rock women's basketball players will be available for a similar experience in the Collaboration Room in Morrow Field House.
 
Throughout the women's game during media timeouts and between quarters, raffle prizes from each of the SRU women's sports teams will be raffled off to participants at the event.
 
During the game, Slippery Rock will also recognize all of its women's teams that are in attendance at the event and will highlight the successes of each program.
 
There is no preregistration required to attend the event. Each parent or guardian attending with children will receive a $2 discount on their tickets, lowering the cost to attend to $8 for adults, which covers admission to both the women's game at 1 p.m. and the men's game at 3 p.m.

Noon: Doors open
Noon-1 p.m.: Meet and greet with SRU female student-athletes
1 p.m.: Women's basketball vs. Pitt-Johnstown
    - SRU women's teams honored during the game
    - Raffle prizes from SRU women's teams handed out during the game
2:45 p.m.: Meet and greet with SRU women's basketball players (shortly after women's game ends)
3 p.m.: Men's basketball vs. Pitt-Johnstown
