ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team won six events and recorded 14 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and one NCAA provisional mark at the Jim Wuske Invitational Saturday at the University of Mount Union.

The meet began at 10 a.m. and wrapped up at 9 p.m. after covering 11 hours of action with just over 20 collegiate teams represented.

The Rock picked up wins in the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 5,000-meter run and 4x400-meter relay on the track and in the pole vault and shot put in the field.

The lone NCAA provisional mark came from
Kendall Grossman, who won the pole vault with a clearance of 3.80 meters to tie her season best. That mark was No. 16 in Division II entering this weekend. She led four SRU vaulters top top five finishes with
Allie Taylor taking second at 3.39 meters and
Grace Parrett and
Hanna Zeiler tying for fourth at 3.29 meters.

The other field event win came from
Sarah Corrie in the shot put after she topped the field with a throw of 13.28 meters to lead four SRU athletes to top five finishes and PSAC marks.
Becca Martin was third at 12.40 meters, followed by Savannah Schenck in fourth at 12.31 meters and
Olivia Heckman in fifth at 12.28 meters.

Samantha Gilbert led the way on the track with a trio of victories. She won the 60-meter dash in 7.76 seconds, took the top spot in the 200-meter dash in 26.03 seconds and then ran the lead leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay, where she teamed with
Lorna Speigle,
Layne Miller and
Rachel Veneziano to post a time of 4:09.29.
Regan Johnson followed Gilbert in second place in the 60-meter dash in 7.89 seconds to place second and then took third in the 200-meter dash in 26.42 seconds.

The final win of the day came from
Anna Igims, who cruised to a comfortable win in the 5,000-meter run in 17:57.44.

SRU picked up two more PSAC qualifying marks on the track with
Chaley Younkin taking second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.36 seconds and
Jennifer Cichra finishing fourth in the mile in a time of 5:17.09. Younkin was joined in tallying a top three showing in the hurdles by
Chalondra Clarke, who was third in 9.51 seconds.

The Rock also placed three runners in the top five in the 400-meter dash with
Annasophia Stauffer leading the way in third place in 1:01.78. Veneziano was fourth in 1:01.88 and
Shannon McCullough was fifth in 1:02.70.

In the field, SRU got PSAC qualifying marks from
Aleks Brozeski in the triple jump and
Cassidy Davis in the high jump. Brozeski took third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.12 meters to lead SRU to a pair of top five finishes.
Baylee Blauser took fifth with a mark of 10.74 meters. Davis took fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.57 meters with teammate
Lydia Latimer finishing fifth at 1.52 meters.

Blauser and Davis also recorded top five showings in the long jump with Blauser finishing fourth with a leap of 5.17 meters and Davis taking fifth with a jump of 5.15 meters.

Saturday marked Slippery Rock's only regular season meet on a 200-meter flat track with the rest of the regular season being run on faster 300-meter surfaces.
