NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded 16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, three NCAA provisional marks and five event wins at the Westminster Invitational Saturday at Westminster College.

Saturday's meet marked the fourth straight day SRU athletes were in action in four different locations around the state. The Rock closed out a busy week by winning the hammer throw, shot put, discus, 400-meter dash and 1,500-meter run at Westminster.

All three NCAA marks and three of the five wins came in the throwing events.
John Eakin took the shot put with his second-best throw of the season at 17.31 meters to lead SRU to a 1-2 sweep with a pair of NCAA marks in the event.
Joshua Gose took second with an outdoor season-best of 16.94 meters and then went on to win the discus throw with a PSAC qualifying mark of 43.83 meters. His brother,
Zach Gose, was fifth with a PSAC mark of 41.41 meters.

Joshua VanDeMark earned the third win in the throws with a victory in the hammer throw and a season-best of 54.98 meters.
Brandon McCray was third at 50.62 meters and Eakin took fourth with a PSAC mark of 48.10 meters.

The other NCAA mark on the day came from
Dalton Anderson, who took second in the javelin with a throw of 61.45 meters, his second-best effort this spring.

Slippery Rock picked up two wins and registered eight PSAC qualifying marks on the track.

The mid-distance runners had a strong day with
Shannon Dooley winning the 1,500-meter run to lead a 1-2-3 sweep for SRU in 3:57.16.
Devon Navaroli was second in 3:57.35 and
Troy Hart was third in 4:00.26. Navaroli then closed his day by hitting the PSAC standard in the 800-meter run with a fifth place finish in 1:57.54.

The other event win on the track came from freshman
Kadin Johnson, who claimed the win in the 400-meter dash in a season-best time of 49.91 seconds.

The Rock's other three PSAC marks on the track came in the hurdle races.
Cade Adams took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.21 seconds and
Matthew Crow was sixth in 56.26 seconds.
Brenden Lewis rounded out the PSAC efforts with a sixth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.05 seconds.

Slippery Rock will return to action next weekend at the three-day Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University.
