JOPLIN, Mo. – Slippery Rock University men's cross country runners
Joseph Cintavey and
Ethan Brentham closed the 2023 season at the NCAA Division II National Championships Saturday at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri.

The Rock duo were the first pair of men's XC runners to compete at nationals in the same season since Jeff Weiss and Pat Reagan qualified in 2008.

Cintavey was the top finisher for SRU in 151st place after covering the 10,000-meter course in 31:45. Brentham followed in 183rd place in 32:01.

Brentham was also recognized this weekend as the NCAA Elite 90 award winner for owning the highest GPA among all men competing in the race. He became the first SRU athlete in any sport to win an Elite 90 award.

The Rock's distance runners will now turn their focus to the indoor track & field season, which begins the first weekend in December at Youngstown State University.
