NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team took first place in the team race and
Troy Hart won the individual title Saturday at the Bill Lennox Invitational hosted by SRU at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.

The Rock cruised to the win in the team standings with 32 total points to top a field of 12 complete teams at the meet. Division I Youngstown State was second with 71 points, followed by Malone with 78 points, West Virginia Wesleyan with 126 points and West Liberty with 127 points to round out the top five. Â

Slippery Rock swept the top three places in the individual race with
Troy Hart,
Ethan Brentham and
Joseph Cintavey going 1-2-3. Hart covered the 8,000-meter course in 24:49 with Brentham following in 24:55 and Cintavey following in 25:03.

Devon Navaroli was seventh in 25:44 and
Michael Novak was 19th in 26:28 to round out the scorers.

John Juszynski was 27th in 26:58 and
Ryan Czechowski rounded out the top seven in 30th in 27:03.

A total of 159 men completed the course, which was being run for the first time after SRU made layout changes from last year's course. Hart's time of 24:49 will stand as the official course record for the 8,000-meter course.

Saturday's meet marked the final tuneup for Slippery Rock before championship season begins in two weeks. The Rock will rest next weekend before traveling to Bloomsburg Oct. 21 for the PSAC Championships.
