Bailee Christman answering back in the 24th minute on a

Â
SHOMO NETS FIRST GOALS
The highlight of the Mercyhurst game belonged to freshman
Madison Shomo who was responsible for both of The Rock's goals in the two-score win. The goals were the first of Shomo's career.
Â
Through 16 games, Shomo is one of two Rock athletes to have scored their first collegiate goals this season along with
Hilary Hoffman. Shomo is also the fourth Rock athlete to secure multiple goals in a game this season with Hoffman,
Leslie Colliver and
Gianna Conti (twice).
CLEAN SHEET FOR BURKER
The Mercyhurst victory also marked a solo shutout for goalkeeper
Grace Burker, who made six saves in the win. While Burker has split shutouts with her backup four other times in her collegiate career, Tuesday's game served as her first full 60-minute shutout.
Â
Burker, who has played all but the second half of Slippery Rock's 9-0 win against Roberts Wesleyan this season, heads into the Bloomsburg game having made 97 saves with a .703 save percentage and a 2.52 Goals Against Average. Her 6.06 saves per game ranks second in the PSAC.
Â
If Burker makes three saves against Bloomsburg she will have recorded at least 100 saves in each of the last two seasons and in the process becomes just the third goalkeeper in program history record multiple 100-save seasons alongside Tara Bailey (4x) and Lisa Belcastro (4x).
Â
COLLIVER AND CHRISTMAN CLIMB LEADERBOARDS
Colliver tallied her 32nd career point and ninth assist in a Rock uniform. Colliver has registered all her 11 points this season in the last four games, is now tied for seventh in program history for assists in a career and 16th in total points. Â
Â
The Mercyhurst game also proved bountiful to Christman, who set up Shomo's game-winning goal. The assist was her sixth at SRU, which pushes her into a tie for 18th in program history.
Â
THE ROCK ATTACK
• Despite having missed two games, Colliver still leads The Rock in both total points (11) and assists (three) in addition to having netted four goals – all of which came in her historic performance against Roberts Wesleyan.
Â
• Conti is SRU's leader in goals scored with five, which translates to the second-highest point total on the team as well (10).
Â
• As one of four athletes with at least one goal and one assist this season, Hoffman sits third for Slippery Rock in both goals scored (three) and total points (seven).
Â
• Christman and
Grace Maynard have produced matching two-goal, two-assists campaigns in 2023. Likewise, Shomo and Karmonick have two goals each.
Â
• Roland and
Megan Rude cap off The Rock's goal scorers this season with one apiece.
Â
• Rounding out SRU's point leaders in 2023 with one assist are
Haley Metcalf and
Paige Shannon.
Â
• Five Rock athletes have accounted for double-digit shots on goal totals with Hoffman leading the way at 21 followed by Colliver (16), Christman (16), Roland (15) and Conti (13).
Â
FINISHING STRONG
A victory over Bloomsburg would give SRU three wins in its last four games of the season. Since 1980, Slippery Rock has won at least three of its final four games of a season five times with the most recent occurrence happening in head coach
Rayell Wallace's first season in 2021. Prior to 2021, SRU had not accomplished the feat since 1992.
Â
Years Winning 3 of final 4 Games
1989: 3-0-1
2021: 3-1
1992: 3-1
1988: 3-1
1985: 3-1
Â
BIG TIME ACCURACY
Heading into the season finale, the trio of Conti, Colliver and Christman have all logged shots on goal percentages – the percentage of total shots that are on goal – of at least 80 percent. Conti leads the group with an .860 (13-of-15) shots on goal percentage while Colliver and Christman have each placed 16 of their 20 shots (.800) on target.
Â
Since 2008, when Slippery Rock began tracking shots on goal, SRU has never finished a season with three or more players totaling an SOG% of at least .800.
Â
CONSTANTS IN THE LINEUP
Entering Friday's season finale, the quartet of Burker, Christman, Del Vecchio and Hoffman have started all 16 games this season while Conti, Maynard, Rude, Shannon, Shomo and
Lucy Hutchinson have seen time in every game as well either in a starting or reserve role.
Â
