TITLE IX CELEBRATION DAY
2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX and as such, Slippery Rock field hockey will take time Saturday to recognize its significance.

Before the passage of Title IX, many young women were not admitted into colleges/universities and athletic scholarships were virtually nonexistent. By prohibiting schools from treating students differently on the basis of sex, Title IX allowed both men and women to equally take advantage of any course of study and to participate in all extracurricular activities, including sports.

To help commemorate the day, SRU field hockey will welcome Kristina Donza, a student-athlete on the Slippery Rock women's basketball team to take part in a ceremonial pass back.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
LAST TIME OUT

Slippery Rock pushed its winning streak to three games with a 4-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial University at Morrow Field House on Sept. 11.

3 IN A ROW
Slippery Rock's current three-game winning streak is its second such under head coach Rayell Wallace over the last two seasons. All told, SRU is 6-2 in its last eight games dating back to the end of 2021 season.

A win against East Stroudsburg would give The Rock their first four-game winning streak since SRU defeated Seton Hill (4-0), West Chester (4-3), Indiana (2-1) and Kutztown (5-2) consecutively during the 2017 season.

WINS vs. NATIONALLY RANKED TEAMS
Since the 2010 season, Slippery Rock has won nine games against nationally ranked teams. The Rock's previous wins against nationally ranked teams include victories against Kutztown (2017 / No. 5), West Chester (2017 / No. 3), East Stroudsburg (2014 / No. 5), Bloomsburg (2013 / No. 7), Indiana (2011 / No. 6, 2010 / No. 7, 2010 / No. 8) and LIU Post (2010 / No. 5).

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
50 of The Rock's 78 wins (.641) over the last decade have come at the friendly confines of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

THE ROCK IN PSAC OPENERS
Slippery Rock will be looking to win its first PSAC game of the season for the first time since defeating West Chester University, 4-3, during the 2017 season.

COLLIVER LEADS THE WAY
Leslie Colliver has led the offensive output for The Rock so far with a team-high eight points on three goals and two assists. Dating back to the 2009 season, only two Rock athletes have accumulated more points than Colliver has through the first four games of a season – Lindsay Brown had 11 in 2013 and Megan McKay had 10 in 2015.

BALANCED ATTACK EARLY ON
Seven Slippery Rock athletes have already scored goals this season. In addition to Colliver's team-high three goals, Bailee Christman and Erin Roland both have two scores as well with Samantha Karmonick, Addy Ross, Megan Rude and Gianna Conti having all chipped in one apiece as well.

SETTING UP THE GOALS
There have been assists on nine of Slippery Rock's 11 goals this season from five different players. Senior Kayla Del Vecchio leads the group with three, which is the second highest mark in the PSAC. Haley Metcalf and Colliver also have multiple assists this year while Christman and Karmonick have one assist each.

GOALIE WATCH
Goalkeeper Grace Burker has played every second (241:43) of SRU's four games in 2022, making 19 saves on a .731 save percentage to go with a 1.74 goals against average. Burker, who ranks fourth in the PSAC in both saves and saves per game, has not allowed a goal in the first three quarters of each of Slippery Rock's last two games.

It has taken Burker just 20 games in her collegiate career to climb The Rock's record books all the way up to 10th in both career wins (10) career saves (94).

STREAKING
Several Slippery Rock athletes enter the weekend carrying various point streaks. Particularly, a goal by Colliver against ESU would make her the first Rock athlete with a goal in four straight games over the previous two decades.

Goal Streaks
Colliver: 3 Games
Christman: 2 Games
Roland: 2 Games

Assist Streaks
Del Vecchio: 3 Games
Colliver: 2 Games
Metcalf: 2 Games

ROCK SHOT LEADERS
Five different Rock position players have already recorded six or more shots on goal this season in Ross (9), Christman (7), Karmonick (6), Colliver (6) and Roland (6).

ROOKIE FIRSTS
The Lincoln Memorial game marked a pair of "first" moments for SRU freshmen Grace Maynard and Megan Rude. Maynard made her first career start while Rude scored her first collegiate goal in the form of what turned out to be the game-winning score.

GOING INTO AND COMING OUT OF THE HALF STRONG
Slippery Rock holds a +4 (8-4) scoring margin in the second and third quarters of games this season. SRU has scored four goals in both the second and third quarters of games this season while allowing just one second-quarter goal and three third-quarter scores.

MAKING THE MOST OF CORNERS
Slippery Rock has continuously put itself in prime scoring position this season by drawing 48 penalty corners through four games (12 per game). Conversely, SRU have only given its opposition 12 corners (3 per game). Of The Rock's 11 goals this year, seven have come shortly after a corner.
