LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team recorded nine Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference automatic qualifying marks and one NCAA provisional mark at a pair of meets this weekend.
 
Much of the SRU roster took the weekend off, but those that did not take the weekend off either competed Saturday at Lock Haven or Friday at Penn State.
 
The top performance of the weekend came from Penn State, where John Eakin took fourth overall in the shot put and was the top Division II athlete with an NCAA provisional mark of 17.06 meters. Joshua VanDeMark also hit the PSAC standard of 51.32 meters to place eighth in the hammer at Penn State.
 
The other seven PSAC marks came at Lock Haven.
 
AJ Virata clocked the fastest 100-meter time in the preliminary round at 10.90 seconds. Bryan Dworek also hit the PSAC mark in fourth at 11.15 seconds.
 
Brenden Lewis won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.78 seconds and Cade Adams took the 400-meter hurdles in 56.93 seconds to give SRU a sweep of the hurdle races.
 
The other three PSAC marks came in the shot put. Joshua Gose won the event with a toss of 15.40 meters. Eric Schulz took second at 14.72 meters and Joshua Rohland was third at 13.95 meters to round out the top performances.
 
Saturday marked a final tune-up before the PSAC Championships, which will take place Thursday through Saturday at Millersville University. A full preview and list of SRU's entries for the PSAC meet will be posted to www.RockAthletics.com by Wednesday.
