Rock still receiving votes in national poll

Slippery Rock is listed third among nine teams in the "receiving votes" section of this week's IWLCA Division II national rankings.

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team was listed third among nine teams just outside the top 25 to receive votes in this week's Division II national poll released Monday by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Slippery Rock posted a 2-0 week last week with a 26-1 victory at home over Edinboro and a thrilling 13-12 triple overtime win on the road at Millersville. The Rock have now won three straight to improve to 6-2 overall on the season.

This marks the second straight week that Slippery Rock is receiving votes in the national poll. The Rock have not been ranked in the top 25 since earning a No. 24 spot in the national poll in the second week of the 2019 season.

Slippery Rock is one of just four teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to be mentioned in this week's poll. PSAC East powers East Stroudsburg (No. 4) and West Chester (No. 8) lead the way. Seton Hill stayed put at No. 22 this week as the only team from the PSAC West to be ranked. SRU is the only team from the PSAC to receive votes this week. Indiana (Pa.) earned votes last week, but dropped out this week.

Slippery Rock will hit the toughest stretch of its schedule beginning this week as The Rock continue on a four-game road swing with a Wednesday match at Gannon and a Saturday trip to Lock Haven.
