SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
– The undefeated Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team kept its position at No. 8 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national rankings and stayed at No. 3 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine national rankings when both organizations updated their Division II national polls Monday.

Slippery Rock stayed No. 8 in the IWLCA poll, which is widely used as the official national ranking, for the second week in a row. The Rock opened the year at No. 8 in the preseason poll before dropping to No. 11 without playing a game. SRU then jumped up to No. 7 after a 2-0 week to open the season and stayed there for four weeks before falling back to No. 8 last week. SRU opened the year at No. 5 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and climbed to No. 3, where the team stays for the sixth week in a row.

SRU held steady in the polls after going 2-0 with a pair of home wins last week. The Rock earned a 10-5 win over No. 22 Seton Hill last Wednesday and took down Lock Haven 20-5 Saturday night to improve to 12-0 overall.

Slippery Rock continues to be one of just three undefeated teams remaining in Division II, joining No. 1 Flagler (15-0) and No. 7 East Stroudsburg (12-0). The Rock rank first nationally in scoring defense (5.08 goals per game), seventh in scoring offense (16.33 goals per game) and third in scoring margin (+11.25 goals per game).

East Stroudsburg is the highest ranked team from the Atlantic Region at No. 7 in the IWLCA poll. The Rock come in at No. 8 to give the region two teams in the top 10 this week. West Chester held its spot at No. 11, Wingate remained at No. 12 and Kutztown climbed one spot to No. 15 to give the Atlantic Region five teams in the top 15.

The region also has two more teams in the top 25 with No. 22 Seton Hill and No. 23 Anderson (S.C.) both holding their positions to close out the seven teams from the region in this week's top 25.

Slippery Rock will play just one game this week with a noon game Saturday at Gannon.
