SCOUTING THE ROCK
LAST TIME OUT

Slippery Rock dropped a 6-2 decision to Millersville on the road Oct. 21. Gianna Conti and Leslie Colliver accounted for The Rock's goals while Kayla Del Vecchio assisted on one score while tallying one of SRU's two defensive saves.

IMPORTANCE OF A QUICK START
Slippery Rock is 4-1 this season when scoring the game's first goal, but just 2-5 when opponents score first. SRU is also 3-1 when scoring a first-quarter goal.

GET A LEAD, KEEP A LEAD
If SRU can take a lead into halftime it's a safe bet that a win is in the forecast as The Rock are a perfect 4-0 when leading at the halftime of games this season.

WINNING HOME RECORD IN REACH
A win on Wednesday assures Slippery Rock of its first winning record at home for an entire season since SRU went 6-3 at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in 2017.

Presently, the 2017 season is the only year since 1998 that Slippery Rock has finished the season with a winning record at home, though the 2011 (4-4), 2012 (4-4) and 2014 (5-5) teams all ended their respective seasons with a .500 winning percentage at home.

52 of The Rock's 80 wins (.650) over the last decade have come at the friendly confines of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

ROCK APPROACHING SINGLE-SEASON SCORING TOP 10
Slippery Rock has scored 29 goals through its first 12 games - already the 12th highest total in single-season history at The Rock.

While its schedule is without a doubt tougher in the later stages of the season as opposed to the start of the year, SRU is currently on pace to finish 2022 with 41 goals, which would be tied for second along with the 1988 and 1976 Rock teams for the most goals scored in a season.

LAST YEAR vs. MERCYHURST
Slippery Rock controlled virtually every facet of the game in last year's 5-1 victory over the Lakers.

· As a team, SRU concluded the contest with advantages over Mercyhurst in total shots (27-6), shots on goal (18-4) and penalty corners (9-5).

· Samantha Karmonick led the offensive attack with two goals. Other goal scorers in last year's victory that are current members of the roster include Bailee Christman and Leslie Colliver while Del Vecchio totaled two assists.

· Goalkeeper Grace Burker made three saves with one goal allowed to earn what at the time was her fifth career victory.

DEL VECCHIO ON THE BRINK OF HISTORY
Del Vecchio enters the Mercyhurst game with seven assists on the season following her one-assist game against Millersville. With five games remaining in the regular season, Del Vecchio is already tied for second place for the most assists in a single-season at The Rock. The current record belongs to Kailee Krupski, who had eight assists in 2016.

Additionally, her 10 career assists rank sixth in program history.

SRU Single-Season Assists
1-Kailee Krupski: 8 (2016)
t2-Sam Griffith: 7 (2001)
t2-Allie Hartman: 7 (2010)
t2-Lindsay Brown: 7 (2013)
t2-Kayla Del Vecchio: 7 (2022)

SRU Career Assists
1-Megan McKay – 15 (2013-16)
2-Allie Hartman: 14 (2007-10)
3-Sam Griffith: 13 (2001-02)
t4-Kailee Krupski: 11 (2014-17)
t4-Gabrielle Malishchak: 11 (2009-12)
6-Kayla Del Vecchio: 10 (2019-22)

TWO IN A ROW FOR COLLIVER
After not scoring for six straight games, Colliver has rebounded to post goals in each of The Rock's last two contests. A goal against Mercyhurst would mark the second time this season that Colliver has tallied goals in three consecutive games. SRU is 4-1 this year in games Colliver scores a goal in.

A BALANCED ATTACK
Slippery Rock opens the week with Colliver, Christman and Erin Roland all tied for the team lead at five goals.

Dating back to the 2003 season, SRU has finished a season with three athletes having scored five or more goals just two other times - in 2013 (Lindsay Brown, Megan McKay and Kelsey Gustafson) and 2017 (Kayla Ulrich, Brittny Morgan, Kailee Krupski).

At least one more athlete figures to join The Rock's goal scoring trio this season with five or more goals as Conti is just one behind this year's leaders with four goals of her own. When Conti does score her fifth goal it will mark the first time in over 23 years that SRU has had four players with at least five goals scored in the same season.

ROUNDING OUT THE OFFENSE
Aiding The Rock's top four goal scorers this season with two goals apiece is Karmonick, Grace Maynard and Megan Rude. Del Vecchio, Haley Metcalf, Nadia Irving and Addy Ross have each chipped in one goal as well.

Del Vecchio (7), Metcalf (3), Colliver (3), Christman (2), Irving (2) and Roland (2) have all assisted on multiple goals so far in 2022 with Conti, Sammy Graci, Alex Held and Gabriella Delcoco totaling one assist each.

CHRISTMAN SCORES, SRU WINS
Slippery Rock is a perfect 5-0 this season when Christman scores a goal and 6-0 when she gets at least one point (goal or assist) in a game.

THE ROCK DEFENSE
Slippery Rock's defense is led by Burker who comes into the Mercyhurst game having made 89 saves (.712) with a 3.10 goals against average over 697:53 of a possible 727:53 minutes played this year.

SRU field athletes have made seven defensive saves this season. Irving and Ross have each contributed two defensive saves with Del Vecchio, Delcoco and Held coming up with one each thus far in 2022.

ROCK 6TH IN D2 IN CORNERS
Slippery Rock will start the Mercyhurst game ranked sixth in the nation in penalty corners per game at 9.67.

IRON WOMEN
With just 14 position players currently dressing for games, all of which have played in every contest this year, Slippery Rock has one of the smallest benches in the country. Entering Wednesday, only Southern Connecticut State has played fewer position players in all of Division II (35 total teams).

Fewest Position Players to Play in A Game (2022)
1: Southern Connecticut: 13
t2: Slippery Rock: 14
t2: Lander: 14

SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Mercyhurst will be looking to snap a string of four straight games without a goal when it comes to Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

On the year, Jenna Cavalieri and Delfina Magro have led the Lakers with three points apiece courtesy of matching one-goal, one-assist stat lines. Five others have scored goals for the Lakers as well.

Goalkeeper Kayla Desormeau has started all 12 games, going 2-10 with a 2.61 GAA, 128 saves and a .810 save percentage. Desormeau made 13 saves while allowing all five goals in last year's Mercyhurst-Slippery Rock game.

Through 12 games, Mercyhurst has a -26 goal differential (7-33).
