SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team will wrap up the home portion of its 2021 schedule this weekend when it hosts Clarion University 7 p.m. Friday and Indiana University (Pa.) 1 p.m. Saturday at Morrow Field House.

ROCK TO HOST MAKE-A-WISH GAME FRIDAY
Friday's match against Clarion will serve as The Rock's "Make-A-Wish" match. Throughout the match SRU will be collecting donations as well as holding a serving contest between the second and third sets with all proceeds going towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
 
SENIOR DAY SATURDAY
As the final home match of the season, Slippery Rock will hold its annual Senior Day festivities Saturday against IUP when The Rock's 2021 senior class of Cacey Cook, Lauren Crytzer, Tiara Teague and Lauren Weber will be recognized for their contributions to the program.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock lost in three sets at Cal U 25-13, 25-22, 25-13 on Oct. 30. Erica Selfridge had a double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs for The Rock.
 
A LOOK AT THE SENIORS
A veteran of 19 matches in her career, Cook has had her best collegiate season as a senior with 59 digs, 14 assists, two aces and four kills while playing 14 matches and making two starts.
 
Crytzer has enjoyed a breakout year in her final season. The middle hitter has started 23 of 25 matches played, recording 85 kills and 52 blocks. Crytzer is fifth for The Rock in total kills and enters the weekend ranked fifth in the PSAC West in total blocks.  
 
Teague has battled through injuries to play in 23 matches over her career with total statistics of 58 kills and 27 blocks. She has started six of her nine matches played this year, tallying 19 kills and 13 blocks.
 
Weber has played in 52 matches over her career, compiling 227 digs and 28 aces. This season, she has appeared in 12 matches while ranking fourth on the team with 10 aces and making 90 digs.  
 
EARLIER THIS SEASON at CLARION and IUP
Selfridge spearheaded The Rock's efforts in their losses at Clarion and IUP earlier in the season with back-to-back nine-kill, 10-dig showings. Chelsie Wheeler also had seven kills against IUP on a .400 attack percentage.
 
SELFRIDGE CLOSING STRONG
As her freshman season comes to a close, Selfridge has been great down the stretch for The Rock. Over SRU's last five matches, she has averaged 10.4 kills and 13.6 digs per contest on a .166 attack percentage.
 
On the year, Selfridge has appeared in all 26 matches, making 25 starts and registering 241 kills, 321 digs, 20 aces and 11 blocks. She leads SRU in kills while ranking second in both digs and aces. With four matches left in the season, Selfridge already ranks 10th in program history for kills by a freshman.
 
WHEELER BACK ON THE BLOCK
Wheeler, another Rock freshman, opened the season with 33 blocks over her first 11 matches. She then compiled just three blocks over her following eight matches played. However, as of late Wheeler has seen a resurgence in blocks with nine over The Rock's past six outings.
 
For the year, Wheeler, who also ranks second on the team in kills at 169 on a Rock-best .158 attack percentage, is second for SRU in blocks as well behind Crytzer with 45.
 
ROUNDING OUT THE ATTACK
Alayna Chizmar is in the midst of a career-year for The Rock as the junior has supplemented Selfridge and Wheeler on the attack with 129 kills in 2021 to go with 10 aces, 139 digs and 12 blocks.
 
LACHENDRO DISPLAYING VERSATILITY
Kate Lachendro has proven capable of doing whatever Slippery Rock needs her to do in her first official collegiate season.
 
In addition to ranking 14th in the nation in total digs with 519, she has also totaled 33 kills with three matches of five or more kills to go with a team-best 28 aces all the while making three blocks and helping out to set up The Rock's attack with 98 total assists, 17 of which have come in the last two matches.
 
BERGER AND O'DONNELL HELPING OUT UP FRONT
The duo of Stephanie O'Donnell and Mary Berger have assisted Crytzer in the middle this season as the pair have combined for 62 blocks with O'Donnell tallying 37 and Berger adding 25. Additionally, Berger has also came away with 61 kills with O'Donnell close behind at 39.
 
THE ROCK'S YOUNG SETTERS
With starter Logan Whitaker out for the season due to injury, the sophomore duo of Taylor Fellers and Peytan Gullickson have both seen an uptick in playing time. The two have responded by combining for 311 assists this season.
 
Fellers is second on The Rock with 180 assists to go with 110 digs and 16 aces. Gullickson has added 131 assists while serving nine aces and making 57 digs.
 
WEEDER GETS A LOOK
Paige Weeder had the best match of her young career in The Rock's last match at Cal U as the freshman posted a personal-best of six kills and 11 digs to go with one ace.
 
RYAN COMING ON LATE
After totaling just four kills and no blocks while playing in just six matches over SRU's first 17 contests of the season, freshman Sydney Ryan has come on as of late by playing in five of The Rock's last nine matches and producing 18 kills and a pair of blocks.
