2021 All-PSAC Team

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Junior defender
Addy Ross earned third team all-conference recognition to represent the Slippery Rock University field hockey team on the 2021 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Â
Wednesday's All-PSAC honor is the first of Ross' career. One of seven upperclassmen on The Rock's roster to appear in the majority of the team's games, Ross helped to lead SRU to a 7-9 record in what was Slippery Rock's winningest season since 2017.
Â
Ross, who made one defensive save on the season, was voted to the all-conference team following a breakout season in which she started all 16 games and anchored a Rock defense that limited opponents to two goals or less nine times.
Â
Offensively, Ross scored one goal and placed five of her 11 shots for the season on target. Ross' contributions to The Rock go beyond any one statistic as she was vital to SRU's success because of her stellar distribution skills, strong defense and great communication on the field.
Â
Ross is the latest in a long line of Slippery Rock defenders that have been named to the All-PSAC team joining Liz Wolfe (2018), Kayla Mack (2016, 2017), Kelsey Gustafson (2013, 2014), Baylee Childress (2012), Erin Moran (2009, 2010), Kelly Brennan (1995), Alice Headley (1992), Missy Martin (1988) and Joan Nather (1987).
Â
Shippensburg University, the top ranked team in the country, took three of the four major awards given out by the PSAC Wednesday as Jazmin Petrantonio was named the Athlete of the Year, Caitlyn Wink earned Defensive Athlete of the Year honors while Tara Zollinger was voted the Coach of the Year. West Chester's Valerie van Kuijck was tabbed the PSAC Rookie of the Year.
Â
Slippery Rock is slated to return 14 players from this year's team in 2022, 11 of which appeared in all 16 games in 2021.
