SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team will Bloomsburg University 2 p.m. Saturday in a near must-win Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SRU cruised to a 5-1 victory at Mercyhurst on Tuesday.

STANDINGS CHECK
Slippery Rock enters the weekend slotted eighth in the PSAC standings, but just one game from moving into a tie for sixth place in the conference with IUP (3-4) and Mansfield (3-4). The top six teams in the league standings at the end of the regular season qualify for the PSAC Tournament. The Rock last qualified for the conference tournament in 2017.

A LOOK AT THE SENIORS
Trube has played in 49 games at The Rock and totaled 44 points on 21 goals and two assists. She heads into Saturday with eight goals on the year and ranked sixth in program history in career goals and eighth in total points.

Plitt has started has started 12 of Slippery Rock's 13 games this season while anchoring SRU's defense. Over her career, she has appeared in 31 contests.

Marks has appeared in 43 of a possible 49 games over her career while tallying 16 points on seven goals and two assists. As a senior, Marks has scored two goals while placing all five of her attempts on target.

A veteran of 36 games played overall, Stiller has started 31 consecutive contests dating back to her sophomore season. She has two assists this season and ranks seventh in program history with five defensive saves.

Nurse has appeared in 22 games over her college career while making 12 starts. She will leave The Rock ranked fifth in program history in goals against average (2.56), sixth in saves per game (4.27) and 10th in total saves (94).

OFFENSIVE ONSLAUGHT
Slippery Rock's five goals against Mercyhurst marked its second-highest offensive output of the season, behind only an eight-goal performance at Seton Hill earlier in the year.

BIG DAY FOR KARMONICK
Leading the way for The Rock in their win over Mercyhurst was
Samantha Karmonick, who registered a pair of goals in the victory. One of six Rock players to have started every game this season, Karmonick is tied for fourth on the team in total points with six on two goals and two assists.

Karmonick is the fourth different SRU athlete to post a multi-goal game this season, joining Trube (twice), Marks and
Katelyn Sparks.

LENDING A HELPING HAND
Jordyn Isner continued her breakout season with another assist, her team-leading sixth of the year, against Mercyhurst. She is now tied for fifth in SRU history for assists in a single-season along with Megan McKay (2015), Allie Hartman (2008), Ally Banks (2012) and Samantha Griffith (2002). The program single-season assist record is eight by Kailee Krupski in 2016.

Isner, the PSAC's No. 8 leader in assists, heads into the Bloomsburg game with 10 points on two goals and her aforementioned assist total.

Kayla Del Vecchio assisted on both of Karmonick's goals against Mercyhurst for what were the first two points of her collegiate career. Stiller also notched her second assist of the year.

FRESHMEN MAKE MARK FOR LAKERS TOO
Freshmen
Leslie Colliver and
Bailee Christman each added a goal as well at Mercyhurst. Colliever is now tied for second on the team in total goals along with Sparks at three while ranking third overall in points at eight on three goals and two assists. Christman is up to five points as a rookie courtesy of two goals and one assist.

TRUBE MOVES TO NINTH IN THE PSAC IN GOALS
Trube rounded out The Rock's scoring efforts against Mercyhurst by adding her eighth goal of the season, which ranks ninth among all PSAC competitors. The goal also moved her into a tie with Christine Peuple (1984-88) for sixth on SRU's career goals ledger.

GOALIE WATCH
Grace Burker, already the fourth winningest freshman goalie in program history, has produced 64 saves, a .667 save percentage and a 2.61 goals against average over 13 starts this season.

SEASON-HIGH IN SHOTS
Slippery Rock fired off a season-high 27 shots against Mercyhurst, its second highest single-game total over the last five years.
Â
10 different players produced at least one attempt with Isner leading the charge at five shots. For the season, five Rock players have produced double-digit shot totals in Trube (33), Isner (22), Del Vecchio (16),
Erin Roland (13) and
Leslie Colliver (11).

HEISTAND UP TO FOURTH IN FIRST-YEAR WINS
The victory over Mercyhurst marked the fifth of the season for SRU and head coach
Rayell Heistand. She is now tied for fourth in program history for wins by a coach in their first official season along with Jan Kasnevich (1985) and Jenny Dumas (2002). Julie Swiney (2010) and Catriona Higgs (1989) won six games their first seasons while Tricia Sterling holds the school record with eight wins in her first season in 1998.

Additionally, Heistand's five wins are the most by a coach in their first season in Division II this year, and tied for 14th in the NCAA regardless of division.

• Bloomsburg comes to SRU averaging 1.47 goals per game while allowing 2.00 goals a contest.
