Rock looks to end slide vs. Coker

The Slippery Rock field hockey team will look to end its three-game losing streak when it hosts Coker College 1 p.m. Sunday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Last Time Out: Slippery Rock gave up two goals in the final three minutes in an eventual 2-1 loss against Mansfield University on Sept. 18.
 
• Seven of The Rock's 10 goals this season have come in the first half of games.
 
• Kayla Ulrich and Jessie Trube enter Sunday's game tied for the team lead in points with nine each on matching four-goal, one-assist stat lines. Ulrich has scored a goal in three of The Rock's five games this season.
 
• Lauren Marks and Addy Ross have accounted for The Rock's other two goals this season.
 
• Courtney Page leads SRU in assists with two, both coming on Ulrich goals. Emily Polakovsky, Trube and Ulrich all have one assist as well.
 
• The trio of Kalie Reed, Holly Stiller and Brenna McGovern-Lind have all tallied a defensive save this year.
 
• Goalkeeper Maddie Murphy has started all five games for The Rock this season and has played all but three quarters. She has a 2.75 Goals Against Average, 20 saves and a .667 save percentage.
  
• Mansfield's two goals against Slippery Rock were the first goals allowed by SRU in the fourth quarter of games this season.
 
• Trube leads the team in both total shots (19) and shots on goal (12). Ulrich is second for The Rock in shots on goal with seven followed by Page (5), Marks (4), Ross (3) and Polakovsky (3).
 
• Slippery Rock ranks second in the PSAC in saves (29), fifth in the PSAC in goals scored (10) and sixth in penalty corners (36).
 
• Individually, Trube and Ulrich are tied for fourth in the league in goals scored. Trube also ranks eighth in the PSAC in total shots.
 
RECORDS WATCH
• Ulrich comes into Sunday tied with Marlene Hall (1985-88) for second place in program history for points in a career with 51. The only former SRU athlete to have compiled more points than Ulrich is Megan McKay (81 / 2013-16).
 
• Ulrich is also tied for third in Rock history for goals in a career with 23 along with Ann Motyka (1976-78) behind only McKay (33) and Hall (25).
 
• Murphy enters the Coker game ranked third in Rock history in goalie wins (12), fourth in career goals against average (2.15), fifth in total saves (175) and sixth in career save percentage (.730).

COBRA  NOTES
Last Time Out: Coker recorded a 2-0 shutout against Converse College on Sept. 15.
 
• The Cobras are coached by Kat Lind, who played for Slippery Rock head coach Julie Swiney when Swiney was the head coach at American International.
 
• Seven different players have scored goals for Coker this year. Kelly Mason leads the Cobras with seven points on three goals and one assist. Britt Cabo is tied for the team lead in points with seven via a pair of goals and a Coker-high three assists.
 
• Ellie Mead has also scored two goals with the quartet of Kaleigh Cordrey, Amelia Gajewski, Victoria Humphreys and Lisa Rempt all having scored one goal as well.
 
• Payton Baronella-O'Toole has produced the Cobras' lone defensive save.
 
• Goalkeepers Kayla Hnasko and Kelsey Gibbons have split time this year. Hnasko is 1-2 with a 3.20 GAA and seven saves (.500). Gibbons is 1-0 with a 2.76 GAA and 10 saves (.667).
