QUICK HITS
•
LAST TIME OUT: Slippery Rock cut a 19-point third quarter deficit down to just nine points with three minutes to play in regulation, but was unable to complete the comeback in a 71-53 loss to Bowie State on Nov. 18.
• The Walsh game will be the first of three non-conference contests this week for The Rock. Following the Walsh contest, Slippery Rock will take part in the Ashland Thanksgiving Classic against Wayne State University and No. 2 Ashland University.
Â
• The Rock and Cavaliers met a season ago with Walsh coming out on top of the game at Morrow Field House, 79-68.
 Â
• As has always been the case over the last five seasons for The Rock, SRU is once again one of the top free throw shooting teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference at 72.7 percent, which is the fourth highest total in the league.
Â
AMONG THE PSAC'S BEST IN STEALS AND TURNOVERS
Slippery Rock has done a great job of forcing opponents into turnovers while at the same time limiting its own mistakes. Through three games, Slippery Rock ranks second in the PSAC in turnover margin (+7.33), fourth in opponent turnovers per game (20.7) and third in steals per games (10.33).
Â
While the majority of the season is still to be played, both of The Rock's current turnover margin and turnovers forced per game would be single-season program records.
Â
Conversely, Slippery Rock has yet to commit more than 15 turnovers in a game this season and is averaging just 13.3 miscues per game, the fifth lowest total in the PSAC.
Â
IMPROVING ON THE ROAD
Slippery Rock has won at least five true road (non-neutral site) games in each of the last three seasons under head coach
Bobby McGraw. Prior to the current run, the last time SRU won at least five road games over three straight seasons was in 1999-00 (10-2), 2000-01 (8-6) and 2001-02 (5-7).
Â
CAREER-YEAR IN THE MAKING
Hinderliter, a junior guard, has continued to establish herself as one of the top guards in the PSAC this season with per game averages of 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field overall and 83.3 percent from the foul line.
Â
Hinderliter is one of just two players in the entire conference to currently average at least 18 points, six rebounds and two steals per game.
Â
PATTERSON FOR THREE
Despite an off game against Bowie State, Patterson, a senior guard, still ranks second on the team in scoring (11.7 points per game), to go with 2.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game. One of the top 3-point threats in the PSAC, Patterson begins the week ranked fifth in the PSAC in 3-point shooting percentage (.375) and eighth in 3-pointers made (eight).
Â
HENDERSON'S OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION COMING AROUND
Senior forward
Morgan Henderson is coming off of her best offensive game of the season. The versatile post played a season-high 30 minutes, scoring 12 points, grabbing eight rebounds and passing out one assist against Bowie State. Henderson, who shot 5-for-10 from the field overall and 2-for-4 from 3-point range, came away with six offensive rebounds against the Bulldogs.
Â
On the season, Henderson is averaging 8.7 points while shooting 52.4 percent from the field overall and 40 percent from 3-point territory while collecting 5.3 rebounds per game.
Â
TOUGHEST NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE IN THE PSAC?
The Walsh game is just the latest in a tough non-conference slate for The Rock. Of its seven non-conference opponents in 2018-19, Ashland went 36-1 a season ago and advanced to the NCAA Division II national title game, Bowie State played for the Atlantic Region championship before finishing the season with a 22-10 record while Walsh (21-9), Wayne State (19-8) and Johnson C. Smith (18-10) all finished with winning records as well.
Â
LEAD GUARD DUO
SRU's point guard duo of redshirt sophomore
Kasch Harris and sophomore
Daeja Quick have combined to average 13.4 points, 5.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. Harris has started the first three games of the season and has played 19.3 minutes per game while Quick has come off the bench in all three games to play 25 minutes per game.
Â
OFF THE BENCH
In addition to Quick, The Rock's top reserves through three games have been junior forward
Karington Ketterer, freshman guard/forward
Brittany Andrews and sophomore guard
Skyla O'Connor.
Â
Ketterer is fifth in the PSAC in blocks per game (1.5) while Andrews is going for 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per night over the first games of her collegiate career. O'Connor is one of The Rock's top perimeter defenders.
Â
ELITE COMPANY
Both Henderson and Hinderliter are on the cusp of etching their names alongside some of the top players in program history as both players are on pace to reach the 500 career point / 500 career rebound plateau this season. To date, only 14 Rock players have reached the elusive milestone all-time.
Â
Henderson will enter Wednesday's game with 580 points and 417 rebounds with Hinderliter close behind at 746 points and 334 rebounds.
Â
RECORDS WATCH
The Rock's veteran trio of Hinderliter, Henderson and Patterson will be working their way up several SRU career record lists as the 2018-19 season progresses.
Â
Just a junior, Hinderliter currently ranks seventh in school history in career offensive rebounds (145), 10th in free throws made (233) and 28th in points scored (746).
Â
SRU's lone four-year senior, Henderson is 10th all-time in offensive rebounds (131) and 10th in blocks (44).
Â
A gifted shooter, Patterson has needed just 42 games in a Slippery Rock uniform to make 90 3-pointers, the 11th most in program history.
