Results (PDF)YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University women's indoor track and field team saw
Jasmine Bailey break the all-time conference record in the 400-meter dash to lead The Rock on day two of the Youngstown State National Invite Saturday.
Â
Bailey, who broke the eight-year old Slippery Rock record in the 400m last weekend, shattered her own school record and ran the fastest 400m time of any woman in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference history Saturday afternoon. She took second place to a Division I runner with a time of 55.49 seconds. Her time shattered the previous all-time best in the PSAC of 56.27 seconds, set by Lock Haven's Jennifer Farrow in 2003.
Â
Bailey's mark is an NCAA provisional qualifier and currently ranks as the ninth fastest recorded by any runner in Division II this season.
Â
To add to her outstanding day she closed the afternoon by anchoring The Rock's 4x400-meter relay team to a win in a season-best time of 3:52.95, just off the NCAA provisional mark of 3:52.71. She teamed with
Casaundra Swartzbaugh,
Aerial Dukes and
Sabrina Anderson on the relay, which now owns the fastest time in the PSAC by more than 2.5 seconds.
Â
In total, the Slippery Rock women recorded 15 PSAC qualifying marks, two NCAA provisional qualifying marks and won two events Saturday.
Â
Ashley West picked up the other event win when she topped the field in the high jump with an NCAA provisional clearance of 1.65 meters.
Â
The Rock also got top 10 finishes Saturday from
Sophie Mazza in the 60-meter hurdles with an eighth place showing in 9.19 seconds,
Sam Taylor with a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.03 meters and
Anna Frengel with a ninth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.59 meters.
