SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team will look to end a four-game skid when it hosts No. 5 East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Sunday at 1 p.m. from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Records: Slippery Rock enters Sunday's face-off riding a four game losing streak, dropping to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. In the four game stretch, SRU has been outscored by a combined total of five goals. The Rock opened the season with three consecutive victories to launch itself into the national rankings at No. 10 in the NFHCA Division II poll, but have since fallen out of the rankings. SRU fell to No. 3 Shippensburg, 2-0, in its most recent action earlier this week.

East Stroudsburg enters Sunday's contest with a 4-3 overall record and 3-1 mark in conference action. The Warriors moved up two spots to No. 5 in the latest NFHCA poll. All three of ESU's losses have come at the hands of nationally ranked opponents. The Warriors were upended 8-7 in overtime against No. 4 Stonehill, before falling 2-1 to No. 3 Shippensburg and 4-1 to No. 7 LIU Post.

All-Time Series: East Stroudsburg is 30-7-1 all-time against The Rock. The Warriors have won 22 consecutive games over The Rock dating back to 1998, when SRU defeated ESU 2-1 in overtime. SRU narrowly missed a road victory at East Stroudsburg in the most recent matchup, falling 4-3 in overtime last fall (

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is being outscored 12-11 through seven games and is being outshot 84-77. The Rock's offense has been limited to a goal or less in three of the past four games.
Kelsey Gustafson and
Kailee Krupski have each scored three goals to pace the offensive attack for The Rock, while
Anna Swearingen has added two goals and one assist.
Allison Shade has one goal and one assist, while
Kylie McCarty and
Kaili Simmons each have one goal.
Michelle Couch and
Megan McKay have two assists and
Courtney Bradshaw has one assist to round out The Rock's point scorers. Gustafson and
Baylee Childress lead the team with three defensive saves each, while
Kayla Mack has added two defensive saves.
Carlee DuMars has played every minute in goal and is 3-4 with a 1.62 goals against average, a .797 save percentage and one shutout. She has made 47 saves and allowed 12 goals in just under 520 minutes of action.

Scouting the Warriors: East Stroudsburg features a dynamic offense that leads the PSAC with a 4.7 scoring average. The Warriors have doubled up opponents offensively, holding advantages of 33-15 in scoring and a dominating 147-51 edge in shots and 78-21 in corners. Ally Roth headlines the attack for ESU and leads the PSAC in scoring with 10 goals and three assists. Jessica Lawville compliments Roth with nine goals of her own (2
nd in PSAC), creating a strong attack line for the Warriors. Robin Stevenson has come off the bench to notch four goals, while Katie Barbato and Desiraye Mack add two goals and three assists apiece. Danielle Ard has started all seven games for ESU and is 4-3 with a 2.79 goals against average, .533 save percentage and two shutouts. She has made 16 saves and allowed 14 goals in just over 450 minutes of action.

Head Coaches: Julie Swiney, the 2012 PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fifth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She has led The Rock to four consecutive six-win seasons since 2010, including the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Sandy Miller, who has coached East Stroudsburg University to 11 PSAC Tournament and six NCAA Tournament appearances, completed her 30th season as head field hockey coach in 2013. She is one of five coaches in Division II history with at least 300 wins and has a career record of 346-247-11. An outstanding athlete at Lock Haven University, Miller earned 11 varsity letters in four sports and was chosen as the school's outstanding senior female athlete in 1983. In field hockey, she was an All-American and a two-time All-PSAC first team selection while playing on two national championship squads. The Lebanon, Pa. native earned a bachelor's degree from Lock Haven in 1983 and a Master's degree from ESU in 1988, both in Health and Physical Education.
