Rock closes season with loss at Lock Haven

Slippery Rock closed the 2014 season with a 25-6 loss at No. 7 Lock Haven Saturday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team closed the 2014 season with a 25-6 loss at No. 7 Lock Haven Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.
 
Morgan Pettit scored two goals and handed out one assist in her final career game, moving her into a tie for second in single-season goals with 57 and into a tie for third in career goals with 112 in the SRU all-time record book.
 
Lock Haven won its 13th straight game to improve to 15-2 overall and 11-1 in league games. Slippery Rock closes the year at 6-11 overall and 3-9 in PSAC games.
 
Paige Costantino led The Rock with three goals and Jess Verbic added one goal to cap the point scorers.
 
Lock Haven finished the game with advantages of 44-11 in shots and 27-6 in draw controls. Slippery Rock managed a 13-12 edge in ground balls. The Lady Eagles were 8-of-11 in clear attempts, while The Rock were 10-of-15.
 
Hannah Houde took the loss in goal after allowing 17 goals and recording four saves in the first half. Jordan Wagner played the second half and allowed eight goals to go along with five saves.
 
Lock Haven was led by six goals and three assists from Jessica Pandolf, three goals and six assists from Chelsea Borrino and five goals from Kelly Hamilton.
 
Chrissy Baffuto earned the win for LHU after allowing two goals and recording no saves in the first half. Morgan Bare made two saves and allowed four goals in the second half.
 
Lock Haven came out of the gates on fire, scoring 11 goals in the first 10:04 to put The Rock in an early hole they could never recover from.
 
Saturday marked the final game in the careers of four-year Slippery Rock seniors Pettit, Kaitlyn Hafdell and Lacey Allis.
