No. 8 Rock runs by Gannon 20-4

Paige Jenkins became the all-time career record holder in caused turnovers and the No. 8 Slippery Rock women's lacrosse team stayed unbeaten on the year with a dominant 20-4 win on the road at Gannon Saturday.

ERIE, Pa. – The eighth ranked Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team stayed unbeaten on the year with a dominant 20-4 win on the road at Gannon University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game Saturday from McConnell Family Stadium.
 
The Rock improve to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in PSAC West games this spring and extend their current winning streaks to 23 straight regular season games, 20 straight PSAC West games, nine straight road games and nine straight in the series against Gannon. The Golden Knights drop to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the PSAC.
 
Slippery Rock defender Paige Jenkins finished the game with two caused turnovers to become the all-time program record holder. The junior now has 103 caused turnovers in less than three seasons and passes Tia Torchia (101) for sole possession of the SRU record.
 
Gannon scored the first goal of the game Saturday and held SRU off the scoreboard until Abby Fink tied the game with 6:01 to play in the first. The Rock were dominant from there, opening up a 9-2 halftime advantage and extending that to 20-2 with a 14-0 run before Gannon closed the game with two goals in the final 5:13.
 
Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 41-11 in total shots, 26-8 in shots on goal, 18-7 in draw controls and 22-17 in ground balls. The Rock were a perfect 12-for-12 on clear attempts and limited the hosts to 7-of-12.
 
Grace Rotter led the attack with six points on five goals and one assist while she also grabbed two draw controls and a game-high five ground balls. Reagan Richeson matched her for game-high honors with five goals while also leading SRU with four caused turnovers. Isabella Buono finished with five points on four goals and one assist and Maddie Blazey scored one goal and handed out three assists to give The Rock four players with at least four points.
 
Caitlyn Kelly chipped in two goals, Fink netted one goal with one assist, Cadyn Eismann added one goal, Claire Petty scored one goal and Shannon Von Kaenel handed out one assist to cap the scorers. Von Kaenel also grabbed a game-high 13 draw controls to move up to No. 3 all-time at SRU with 196 career draw controls.
 
Aleigha Dubroc matched Richeson for the team lead with four caused turnovers and Gemma Sciarroni added three caused turnovers as The Rock defense limited their 11th straight opponent to six or fewer goals.
 
Lily Ventresca earned the win in goal after playing the first 45 minutes and allowing just two goals. Ava Drath played the fourth quarter and made four saves while allowing two goals.
 
Gannon got two goals from Megan Lang and two assists from Lindsay Gavula. Allison Lerch made six saves in goal.
 
Slippery Rock will return home next week for a pair of PSAC West games, hosting Edinboro Wednesday at 4 p.m. and Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at noon.
