SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 2 Millersville Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
The Marauders remained perfect on the year with the win, improving to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in PSAC games.
The loss was the fifth in a row for Slippery Rock, which saw its season records drop to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in PSAC games.
Millersville finished the game with advantages of 10-4 in total shots, 7-4 in shots on goal and 8-2 in penalty corners.
The Marauders got goals in the ninth minute from Lauren Gerhart and the 54th minute from Katelyn Zapp and a shutout from Lauren Sotzin, who made four saves.
Slippery Rock had chances late in the game to get on the board, including a penalty corner as the clock ticked down to zero, but
Lindsay Brown's shot was saved.
Brown finished with two shots on goal to lead the offense for SRU.
Carlee DuMars played the fill 70 minutes in goal for SRU and recorded four saves.
Baylee Childress also registered a defensive save.
Slippery Rock will have little time to rest as the team will host Lindenwood Sunday in a noon match.
