BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team hits the road to take on the sixth-ranked Huskies in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Records: Slippery Rock enters the contest at 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC. The Rock defeated Seton Hill 3-1 Friday to extend its win-streak to three games.
No. 6 Bloomsburg enters the match at 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies lost 3-2 at Slippery Rock earlier this fall, but have won five of their last six contests. During the streak, Bloomsburg earned wins over No. 9 Kutztown and No. 7 East Stroudsburg, with the Huskies' only loss coming to No. 1 Shippensburg.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is even with opponents in goals at 31-31 and is being edged 123-111 in penalty corners. The Rock holds advantages of 198-160 in total shots and 152-114 in shots on goal against opponents.
Lindsay Brown leads The Rock in scoring with 12 goals and five assists, followed by
Megan McKay and
Kelsey Gustafson with four goals apiece.
Allison Shade,
Courtney Bradshaw,
Renee Rosenblum and
Gina Smarrelli have each scored twice.
Baylee Childress and Gustafson each have four defensive saves and
Lauren Shideler has two defensive saves to lead The Rock's defense.
Meghan McKinney and
Lauren Hart have each recorded a defensive save as well.
Scouting the Huskies: The sixth-ranked Bloomsburg squad holds advantages of 31-14 in goals, 162-94 in total shots and 95-54 in shots on goal. Felicia Domenici leads the Huskies in scoring with 12 goals and three assists. Domenici's 12 goals have come on a total of 23 shots. Brittany Mathews is second on the team in scoring with seven goals and four assists, followed by Sam Peters with four goals. Candice Smith, Samantha Facciolla and Nikki Gattone have each scored twice. Smith also leads the team with five assists, while Gabby Nisiotis the backfield with two defensive saves.
Goalkeepers: Carlee DuMars has started the last four games for The Rock and owns a 4-3 record on the season. DuMars holds a 2.13 goals against average and .692 save percentage.
Courtney Lee has started eight games for Slippery Rock and owns a 2-4 record, 2.69 goals against average and .700 save percentage.
Megan Eppley has started every game for the Huskies and owns a 7-4 record on the season. Eppley has a 1.32 goals against average, .731 save percentage and has recorded one shutout.
Coaches: Julie Swiney, the reigning PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fourth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She led The Rock to back-to-back six-win seasons in 2010 and 2011, before matching the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Nikki Rhoads is in her fourth season as the head field hockey coach for Bloomsburg. Rhoads came to Bloomsburg after spending six years at Alvernia University. In 2011, Rhoads received her second consecutive PSAC Eastern Coach of the Year after guiding the Huskies to a 19-1 record and their fourth straight PSAC Championship. A 2004 graduate of Bloomsburg, she was a standout player on teams that won two NCAA championships and two PSAC titles. Rhoads was a three-time All-American and All-PSAC selection. She is tied for 10th all-time in Bloomsburg history with 45 goals, 11th in assists with 24 and ninth in career points with 114.
Series: Bloomsburg owns a 38-1 advantage in the all-time series. Slippery Rock earned its first-ever win against the Huskies earlier this fall, upending Bloomsburg 3-2 in non-PSAC play at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium to snap a 38-game series losing streak.
Next Up: The Rock returns to PSAC action Friday, Oct. 18 at home against Indiana (Pa.). Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
