SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team (6-7, 2-3) defeated Seton Hill (4-7, 1-3) 3-1 Friday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Lindsay Brown broke open a scoreless affair in the 25th minute off of a penalty corner by connecting with a blast at the top of the circle on a feed from Kelsey Gustafson to give The Rock the edge, 1-0.

In the 30th minute, Brown put more pressure on the Griffins' defense with a shot that was saved by Melayna Currie. The ball ricocheted off the defender and found Renee Rosenblum, who buried the shot to give Slippery Rock a 2-0 advantage.

The Rock carried the 2-0 lead into the second half, when Gustafson found the back of the cage on a rebound to extend the lead to 3-0 in the 45th minute.

Ashley Reid answered for the Griffins on a slick pass from Natasha Nichols in the 47th minute, cutting The Rock's lead to 3-1. Seton Hill applied pressure during the final stages of the game, but could not complete the comeback.

Carlee DuMars picked up the win after making four saves and allowing just one goal.
