SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team will open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division play Wednesday night at Lock Haven University at 6 p.m.

Records: Slippery Rock enters the game with a 4-9 overall record and a 3-6 mark in league games. The Rock is coming off a pair of PSAC wins last weekend over Kutztown and East Stroudsburg and is searching for its first three-game winning streak since Jan. 6, 2012.

Lock Haven enters the game with a 5-8 overall record and a 2-7 mark in PSAC games. The Lady Eagles are coming off a 75-69 win over Mansfield last Saturday.

PSAC Standings: For the first time, the PSAC playoff field is expanding to include 12 teams this year, meaning only two teams from each division will miss the playoffs. In the West, Slippery Rock is currently tied for the sixth spot with Clarion, while Lock Haven sits in eighth place. Gannon (9-0) leads the division, followed by Edinboro (7-2), California (6-3), Indiana (6-3) and Mercyhurst (4-5).

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is scoring 57.9 points per game and allowing opponents 70.5 points per game. The Rock is shooting 34.3 percent from the field, 22.8 percent from beyond the 3-point line and 60.7 percent at the free throw line.

Opponents average 40.9 percent from the field, 31.8 percent from long range and 67.1 percent at the charity stripe.

Erinne Cunningham, this week's PSAC West Player of the Week, leads Slippery Rock in scoring at 10 points per game and leads the team with 20 made 3-pointers. She is coming off a 23-point effort in the win over Kutztown.

D'Asia Chambers is averaging 9.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while Alexas Brown adds 9.1 points per game and leads the team with 53 assists and 25 steals. Emilee Vitez is the leading active rebounder on the team at 5.8 rebounds per game after Jazmyne Frost (7.4 rebounds) suffered a season-ending injury earlier this winter. Simone Aladenoye has replaced her in the starting lineup and is averaging six points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Scouting the Lady Eagles: Lock Haven is scoring 67.3 points per game and allowing 66.5 points per game. The Lady Eagles are shooting 38.1 percent from the field, 28.3 percent from beyond the 3-point line and 69.6 percent at the free throw line. Opponents average 38.0 percent from the field, 29.9 percent from long range and 71.6 percent at the charity stripe.

Kelsey Ryan leads the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game and also grabs 6.9 rebounds per game. Marrysa Moyer adds 10.6 points per game and is the top rebounder at 8.0 boards per game. Emily Daugherty completes a trio of double figure scorers with a per game average of 10.5 points.

This week's PSAC West Freshman of the Week J.J. Hilliard averages 8.5 points per game and is coming off a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Mansfield.

Series: Slippery Rock owns a 44-28 advantage in the series between the two teams dating back to the 1976-77 seasons. The Lady Eagles have swept the season series in each of the last two years and bring a five game winning streak into the game.

Head Coaches: Tanya Longo is in her third season as the head coach at Slippery Rock. Longo has taken on a rebuilding project with the program and has posted a record of 13-52 in her tenure at SRU. Longo came to Slippery Rock after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Southern Illinois.

Jennifer Smith is in her sixth season as the head coach at Lock Haven, where she has posted a record of 42-98.. Smith has led the team to 25 wins since the beginning of the 2010-11 season after winning just 17 games in her first three years with the program.

Last Meeting: (Box Score) Lock Haven defeated Slippery Rock 76-67 in the second meeting between the two teams last year, Feb.8 at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Sharay Hall led the Lady Eagles with 23 points, while Peaches Nesmith added 17 points and Samantha Lane chipped in 11 points.

Slippery Rock was led by a game-high 24 points from Jasmine Cooper. D'Asia Chambers added 15 points and Danielle Smith chipped in 13 points.

The nine point deficit all came in the first half as Lock Haven opened up a 35-26 halftime lead. The two teams were even at 41-41 in the second half.

Alumni Event: Slippery Rock will welcome alumni back to campus this Saturday before and during the 1 p.m. game against Mercyhurst. Alumni will tour the new Smith Student Center and the locker room following the team's morning shoot around and will enjoy a postgame social in the alumni house.
