MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team suffered its third consecutive loss to a nationally ranked opponent Saturday falling on the road at No. 6 Millersville, 2-0.
Slippery Rock faced No. 1 Shippensburg Tuesday, No. 2 Bloomsburg Friday and No. 6 Millersville Saturday.
The Rock falls to 3-3 overall and remains 0-1 in the PSAC-West while Millersville improves to 5-2 overall (1-0 in the PSAC-East).
The Marauders recorded goals in each half with the first one coming in the 27th minute by Rachel Dickenson. The second goal sealed the win for Millersville as it came late, with only 52 seconds left in the match.
The first half was evenly matched with both teams creating chances. The shots were in favor of Millersville 12-9, as were the penalty corners 10-6.

Courtney Lee made five saves in the first half to keep Slippery Rock in it but six shots by
Gabrielle Malishchak,
Lindsay Brown, and
Courtney Bradshaw all were saved by Marauder keeper Lauern Sotzin.
The second half was back and forth just like the first but both goalies and defenses stood their ground. Slippery Rock had a penalty corner late but couldn't convert as Millersville tacked on the second goal with under a minute to play.
Shots and penalty corners for the game favored Millersville 18-12 and 15-10 respectively.

Ally Banks finished with five shots, three on goal, while Bradshaw recorded three shots on goal as well.
Lee went the distance for The Rock and recorded eight saves in the loss as she falls to 3-3 on the season.
Millersville's Sotzin recorded eight saves for her second shutout of the year. The Marauders haven't allowed a goal in three straight games.
Slippery Rock looks to get back on track when it hosts PSAC-West rival Mercyhurst Wednesday, Sept. 19. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
