Information and Registration
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The 16th annual "Let's Get Dirty" European style cross country race at Slippery Rock University is set for Nov. 10 on The Rock's campus.
The annual event has grown wildly popular with both serious and fun runners over its 15-year tenure and will no doubt attract another large field this season.
Over the last couple years, the field has grown so large that Rock cross country coach
John Papa has split the event into two races, a championship race for serious runners, and a fun run for runners more interested in seeing who can be covered in the most mud.
The championship race, which will award prizes to the top three finishers in multiple age groups, will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the SRU ski lodge on campus. All runners competing in the championship race must be able to complete the 5,000-meter course in 40 minutes or less. The fun run will begin at appoximately 10:15 a.m.
Entry is $18 per runner with a t-shirt and $12 per runner if no t-shirt is desired. Entries must be postmarked by Nov. 2 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Race day registration is $15 per runner with no t-shirt, while additional shirts will be on sale for $12 on race day.
Runners are advised that this is a European style cross country race and will feature trails, hills, stream crossings and mud pits. No showers are available at the course, so all runners are encouraged to bring towels, plastic bags and a change of clothes.
