Brookville, N.Y. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team began its four-game road trip with a 5-0 loss at sixth-ranked C.W. Post Friday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y. The loss snapped SRU's season-long two-game winning streak.

Slippery Rock (3-8, 2-3 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division) held C.W. Post (6-3, 2-2 PSAC-East) to just one goal in the first half before the Pioneer's offense exploded for four second-half goals. C.W. Post, which avenged its loss at Slippery Rock last season with Friday's win, outshot The Rock 20-3 and held a 13-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Sophomore Allison Banks led SRU with two shots while senior Grace Bathurst also tallied one shot. Freshman goalie Courtney Lee, who is 3-2 on the season, played all 70 minutes and made six saves. Friday was Lee's first loss since a Sept. 9 defeat at Kutztown.

Despite being outshot 9-1 to begin the game, SRU was able to hold the C.W. Post attack from scoring for much of the first half until Kathryn Godshalk beat Lee with 1:49 left to play in the period to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead at the break. Carlee Dragon scored the first of her two goals on the day for C.W. Post 10 minutes into the second half to put Post up 2-0.

Any hope that was left for a Rock-comeback was then quickly dashed when C.W. Post added three more goals in a span of just 2:15 to open up a 5-0 lead. Helene Bruckner (54:01), Dragon (55:09) and Ashley Oracewski (56:16) accounted for the scores. Both of Banks' shots came in the final minute of the second half for SRU, but were saved by Pioneer goalie Devon Trenkle, who was able to tally her first shutout of the season.

Slippery Rock will continue its road trip with a 1 p.m. game Saturday at East Stroudsburg in a non-divisional contest.
